... [Jeff] said "BE STILL!" and tamed them with the magic trick of staring into all their yellow eyes without blinking once [as he struck out the side looking] and they were frightened and called him the most wild thing of all...
After last night's victory, our Padres will be going for their second series win of the season and will send Jeff Suppan to the hill tonight to take on the Rockies. Suppan was called up last week to fill in for an injured Cory Luebke. He pitched five shutout innings in his start against the Brewers, which marked his first time pitching in a major league game since 2010. He allowed only four hits and two walks while retiring 15 of the 20 batters he faced, leading our Padres to a solid win. Tonight he will try to repeat that performance and keep the Rockies off the board to secure the series.
Much like our Padres, the Rockies are turning to their farm system to help them out as a result of injuries to their starting rotation. Tonight Alex White will take the mound for his first start of the season. Colorado acquired White from the Indians in the Ubaldo Jimenez trade last season and he pitched seven starts for the big league club, but struggled due to a middle finger injury. He will try to take advantage of this opportunity to bounce back from his pitching woes in 2011 while ending the Rockies' four-game losing streak.
