Well, that's just great.
He's going to get a second opinion, but there's talk that Cory Luebke may need to undergo Tommy John surgery, which would basically end his season with the Padres.
An MRI from Wednesday showed damage to the elbow. Luebke will get a second opinion.
Maybe that second opinion will be like, "oh haha. nm."
But probably not.
This is a major disappointment to be sure, but if there was ever a season when something like this had to happen, it was definitely this season. Assuming he needs surgery, it would be ideal to get it done sooner rather than later so as not to lose a significant amount of the 2013 season as well. Who knows? Maybe he'll be ready in time for May beards in 2013.
In the meantime, here's to hoping that Jeff Suppan continues drinking from the fountain of middle-aged.
