Why you should switch to DirecTV.  Seriously.

As this fanpost is close to being pushed off the front page I won't be able to see future comments. I can be contacted through twitter @kevintheoman or email kevintheomanharris@gmail.com

I'll start off by admitting that part of the reason for this post is the hope I can score some credits on my bill by way of the referral program. Although I'll also admit that there are better programs out there than the referral program that you should look into. I'm going to focus on the price breakdowns here, but also know that I personally like the DVR software better than Cox's Scientific Atlanta and the DirecTV picture quality is considered superior than cable by most people.

I'm trying my best provide comparable channel listings. Basically every channel except premium movie channels (I'm counting Encore, IFC, Sundance as premium movie channels)

Time Warner Cable San Diego

2 receivers (one HD DVR and one HD non-DVR) with whole home service

Digital TV with HD DVR service $49.99

Variety Pack $8.00

Choice Pack $8.00

Sports Pass $8.00

Whole House HD DVR & HD Box Package $28.50

Total Monthly Charges $102.49 (2 year price $2459.76 without one time fees)

One Time Whole House DVR Professional Installation Fee $50.00

notable content differences from DirecTV (from what I notice, let me know if missing something):

has G4

missing the mtn

missing nfl network

missing Fox Sports San Diego

missing Prime Ticket

missing Big Ten Network

Cox San Diego

Cox Advanced TV Preferred $69.74

Plus Package with Whole-Home DVR & Trio Guide $22.98

Plus Package HD Receiver for Whole Home DVR $7.99

Sports and Information Pak $5.25

Lifestyles Pak $5.25

Total Monthly Charges $71.47 for first 3 months, $111.21 beyond that (2 year price $2549.82)

notable content differences from DirecTV (from what I notice, let me know if missing something):

Choice Xtra $68.99

new customer discounts for 12 months -$29.00

HBO+Showtime+Starz+Cinemax $45.00

Additional TV (Whole Home HD non-DVR) $12.00

AAA discount program is an extra $10 off for 20 months (can't combine with referral or costco discounts)

Anyways, if someone is interested and is looking at the referral program.....talk to me.
