I'm surprised no one has posted about Dirk Hayhurst's new book Out of My League yet. I have read through most of it and I have really enjoyed it so far. Since the book takes place within the Padres organization, it should be a must read for any die hard Padres fans. He writes a lot about the players that were in the organization at the time in 2008 when he was playing for the Portland Beavers (ie. Chip Ambres, Luke Carlin, Justin Hampson, Shawn Estes etc.). It was also cool reading about his major league debut and his time in the big leagues from his perspective. The book was like going on a first-hand trip into the Padres clubhouse in late 2008, which we all know were some of the most irrelevant, bad times in Padres history with the way the team was playing. I had put Dirk Hayhurst in my list of forgotton Padres from that season along with Scott Patterson, Charlie Haeger, Sean Kazmar, Bryan Corey and so on, but now he has become one of my favorite players.
I'm just curious if anyone else has read it, and if you have, what are your thoughts on it?
