Around SBN: Indy 500: 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing' Set For Sunday

The Padres have become the latest Major League team to implement dynamic pricing for single-game ticket sales.

By using advanced computer programming, dynamic pricing will give the team the ability to adjust ticket costs higher or lower based on market demand and such factors as pitching matchups, the team's performance, weather and potential milestones.

Dynamic pricing is geared toward giving fans more day-to-day options in 2012. It also allows the Padres to accurately price tickets in a timely fashion.

Bad news.

Get ready to pay more if you want to go to a game on the weekend, or when either team’s ace is pitching or when the Dodgers, Giants or Cubs are in town.

I'm indifferent

Pros:
I live out of town and only see a handful of games in person. Because of this, I typically buy early. I don’t have the luxury of going to a game on a whim. I can be potentially rewarded for this behavior.
This has allowed them to lower ticket prices for a lot of seats in order to entice fans to lesser attended games.
Cons:
I live out of town and only see a handful of games in person. Because of this I usually end up only seeing games on Saturdays and against opponents I care about (NL West). For the few games I go to, I might be paying the higher prices.
This allows the marketing team to advertise very low ticket prices, when in actually the availablity of the very low prices is sparce (the cake is a lie).

BEAT L.A.!

More people at crappy games

Slightly less people at bigger games. Although the idea of a “big game” is dependent on how the team does this year. So potentially cheaper tickets overall.

if the Padres had dynamic pricing last year

all the tickets would have been free

On the other hand, you have different fingers.
