I don't have much of an introduction for this one. The padres have been doing beach towel giveaways for as long as I can remember. They are actually quite useful at the beach as you can lay on them to get out of the sand and use them to dry off. Unlike a regular bath towel, they are rather thin which keeps it from absorbing water and sand. Though, to be honest, I've used my beach towels as bath towels on quite a number of occasions.
The towel is a pretty good length. As a morbidly obese man I can wrap it around my waist pretty decently. The prints are a bit faded, but they were never really vibrant to begin with.
I like how this particular towel is pretty plain. Shows the friar with the word "padres". That's all you need. The corporate sponsors unfortunately take over half the space though.
Apparently AirTouch was a wireless telephone provider. I don't remember them at all. But then again, I never had a pager and I didn't get my first cell phone until 2003. AirTouch spun off from PacTel in 1994. It ended up merged into Verizon in 2000. "Powerband digital service" has something to do with CDMA; I'm too lazy to really figure it out. 760 KFMB broadcast ended their broadcast rights with the padres after 1999 it looks like. After factoring in the use of the friar logo, I'm going to say the towel is from somewhere between 1996 and 1999.
