Former Padres pitcher Pat Neshek and his wife Stephanee lost their first born son less than a day after his birth yesterday. It's a terribly sad and sobering reminder of how precious life is.

Stephanee tweets that he died unexpectedly but peacefully in her arms. She thanks those who are kind enough to pray for them.

It makes my heart feel better to know how many people cared about Gehrig and are thinking of us during this difficult time.

Pat appeared in 25 games in 2011 with the Padres and was a favorite among fans.
