Would You Rather...
Would you rather is like, my favorite game ever, because I get to choose whatever I want, but I'm only given two options so I don't have to think too hard about it. I have a hard time making decisions...
Anyway, I was thinking about the Padres at work today and how many times they've missed out on winning it all. Those close seasons and how great they are, despite the choke jobs at the end. Would I rather have those seasons, or would I rather have one season where my team doesn't choke and goes on and wins it all? So, I have a question for everyone:

Get the Trophy
because 2010 wasnt first place either. and if you ain’t first, you’re last!!!!!
Scowling at Padres Losses since 1981
My brother got that game for Christmas, but I haven't played it yet.
When I game, it’s Settlers of Catan.
I’ll take the championship eight days a week.

So.... given that we have NEVER won a World Series
I kinda feel like going in that direction… but the remainder of my life… 50-100 years (maybe more) would really suck.
So, I kinda feel like going in the direction of “just missing” each year.
But honestly, if you were to say… 1 world series win followed by 5 years of last place ball, I would vote for that. Maybe even 10 years of last place ball…
Also, Chargers sucked this year. Are they going to fire the GM and Norv? I kinda wish they would… talk about a badly under performing team. Those years with LT, Gates, and Rivers (all at their peaks…) and nothing to show for it. :(

World Series Championships are like potato chips.
You can’t have just one. I’d rather see:
Would you rather
1. The Padres get a WS appearance once every five years, but finish last the other four,
OR
2. The Padres WIN one WS each decade, but have losing records the other nine years.
I’d take (1) because the Padres were liable to win several during my lifetime. And the wait for a winning season is shorter.
None of these apply to me
since the World Series is in October and I’ve been on record for at least a dozen years guaranteeing I’ll be dead some point before September 10, 2012.

It's all yours, every last bit of it.
Congrats, you just scored a few tiny punk rock band shirts, some baseball cards and a weird-ass cat. Keep your fingers crossed that I get a new pair of shoes by then; like me, these ones don’t have much life left in them.
Sorry but my brother already called dibs on keeping my body, getting it taxidermied and using it as a coat rack.

In discussions like these,
I always think of the Tigers. For a long time, they won a WS about once every 20 years, or so. 1945, 1968, 1984 …Each generation had their one championship, regardless of how the team performed in the other years.
Of course, losing the WS in 2006 put an end to that.
On the very next play Venable soiled the sheets again
I'm sure you're not "dum" or dumb, Jordan
But look how much less frustration there is in your third option. I had to vote for it. I wouldn’t be happy with either of the first two. Neither one would be enough.

It's a bit sadistic, but I like the way things are: win the NL Championship every 15 years or so.
The World Series is an exhibition. It’s been an exhibition since 1976.
15 years for an NL Championship is a bit long, I think 10 years would be a bit better. But long enough that you appreciate it when it happens.
