The reaction on this blog to the Reds' reported $2.5M, one-year deal with Ryan Ludwick has been overwhelmingly negative

i wonder if he tanks the reds as bad as the padres and pirates

both teams were in first place when he was acquired and then got mauled by the ugly-stick once he started playing.

as a fourth outfielder he’s not so bad, except he doesn’t really do any one thing exceptionally well at this point in his career. he’s an extreme flyball/line drive hitter though, so if there’s anywhere he can succeed it would be on the reds.

Great American Ballpark does look for him to be his best chance at success

To be fair though, the Pirates suckitude started just before he was acquired. the first 3 or 4 games of that streak happened before he even played for them.

Perhaps it was a combination of Correia and Ludwick that led to greater suckage.

The worst thing is...

if he does extraordinarily well next season…as this always seems to happen to the Padres.

Where in the world is Khalil?

If he does well

It’ll have nothing to do with the Padres. It’s all him and that retardedly small park the Reds play in. He hated playing here and didn’t do much to hide that in his attitude or his play. Nothing the Pads could have done to change that short of a lobotomy.

I don't recall his attitude being that bad...

His play wasn’t awesome, but I don’t remember him having the same attitude that Nevin and Klesko had.

I'll get to see him quite a bit this season and I'll be rooting for him.

I never understood all the hate.

unlike a lot of people last season, i liked him

he worked hard. he hit a ton of fly outs last season at petco that would have been homers in cincy. i bet he does great next season.

You already claimed his stuff

Stop trying to rush his demise.

Why ask a failed romance to come watch your successful one? You know, that's like inviting the Seattle Mariners to a World Series game. It's just weird for everyone.

Not on purpose.

Most of my friends are Reds fans.
