Why isn't Will Venable playing anymore?

Can someone explain to me why Venable isn't playing anymore? Thanks as I cannot find information anywhere. Seems like he should be in the starting lineup over Hermida and Cunningham. He certainly has a better batting average, and then he also steals (and has some pop in his bat). There have been no updates on CBSSports.com, ESPN or any of the major websites. And I cannot find anything even from the Padres. Any information would be of help. Thanks and go Padres!

he's never been bud's favorite player

despite his upside. also he’s had nagging back and neck problems the whole year. as you know those don’t always go away quickly so i would assume its a combination of not wanting to push him and the cornucopia of corner outfielders on the roster that the club needs to evaluate.

RF Will Venable is experiencing back problems again, but not to the degree of the lower back spasms that sent him to the disabled list last season. Venable missed a fifth straight game Tuesday and won’t play Wednesday.
