Just read that the Padres have claimed Hermida from the Reds. He is only 27 and a former 11th overall pick. He had OK years from 2007-2009 but has never really lived up to his potential.
I wonder if Jed is experimenting with another guy (like Maybin) who was rushed up to the Bigs too early but is still young enough to maybe, just maybe turn things around and be a contributor.
