XX Sports Radio: Adrian Gonzalez Interview with Darren Smith (MP3)
Adrian Gonzalez stumbles over his words when trying to explain to Darren Smith his private flight to the All-Star game and the disparaging comments made by his agent about the Padres' travel arrangements.
He explains his agent's quote from yesterday's USA Today article:
"What was quoted from my agent -- He was just joking around. He didn't mean for it to come out that way. He explained that to me."
"It wasn't an attack at the team or anything."
Adrian also says he never considered not attending the All-Star game.
"No this is a fun event to be at. It was voted on by the fans. It's something you want to be here and have fun with it."
Even last year he didn't consider skipping the All-Star game?
"No not at all."
Adrian says he was misquoted when he very clearly said he would boycott the All-Star Game because of Arizona's SB 1070 law.
"Yeah, no, I mean, it was all -- It was all - I've said it from the first day, the way the question was asked, the way it was written -- it happens at times. You just wish that they could put the whole conversation in the paper and not just the quote that they put out there."
