They didn't go into any detail about what specific rules were violated.
The one big rule mentioned is having debt of no more than ten times revenue. That’s pretty generous. The Yankees could owe like $5 billion? That’s way more than market value. There must be other rules on managing debt that the article didn’t mention. The three teams that changed ownership most recently, the Cubs, Nationals and Rangers, are on the list, probably because of how the purchase was financed. The only problem teams are the Mets and Doggers, and we all know why, so this article doesn’t tell us much.
