Coming off a three-game sweep by the Twins, our Padres are looking to do what many people consider impossible and end their losing streak in Boston. In the continuation of this six-game road trip, we will take on a Red Sox team that has won 13 of its last 15 games. During that stretch, they have more than doubled the amount of runs scored by their opponents, outscoring them 114-53.
Boston will send Andrew Miller to the mound today to make his Red Sox debut in place of the injured Clay Buchholz. Left-hander Wade LeBlanc will make his third start for the Padres this season and his third attempt at a win. His last outing was a disappointing one, only pitching 4 2/3 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits, so he will try to turn bounce back today in his first career start against the Red Sox.
There is a lot riding on this series. If we play well, it won't just have a positive impact on our record, but on fan morale as well. Also, it is undeniable that everyone has been waiting to see how Adrian Gonzalez will fare against his former team while Anthony Rizzo and Jed Hoyer return to their former organization.
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
