Padres spank Dodgers, Hudson spanks Bartlett
By now you all know that the Padres won yesterday afternoon by a score of a billion to one. Did anyone watch Baseball Tonight prior to the Phillies/Mets game when they did the Padres game recap? Do they have the episodes online? I'm trying to find it so I can embed a clip.
They were showing Orlando Hudson and Jason Bartlett rolling a double play in slow motion. As soon as Hudson feeds the ball to Bartlett and Bartlett's throw carries him towards first, Hudson gives him a swift spank on the butt. It wasn't even a congratulatory butt pat after the play, this was a full on spank during the play when he was most vulnerable to being spanked.
That's got to be distracting for Bartlett, wouldn't you think? Your concentration needs to be on the ball, your footwork, the runner and you've got to worry about getting spanked by your over excited second basemen too.
I work with a guy who needs to pat my co-workers on the back every time he sees them. Like he'll make a special trip into your office just so he can do it. I'll purposely try to stay away from him and he'll still find a way. We all talk about how awkward it is and how this guy can't keep his hands to himself. I wonder if the same type of thing happens in the Padres club house.
Let's see, what else happened? The Padres got their first shut out victory. Dustin Moseley pitched another great game, but this time he got run support.
Andre Eithier also extended his hitting streak to 27 games, because the home town scorer ruled Brad Hawpe's obvious error at first, a hit. It doesn't bother me too much, I'm sure the scorer helped Dimaggio at Yankee stadium and the mob probably helped him on the road.

Morning Juice
Did you read what Big League Stew said about Hawpe? I’d be offended if I didn’t actually agree.
Ohhh, snap.
I’d rule it a hit, too, but Ethier is lucky that the Padres are making Brad Hawpe(notes) play first base, because an actual first baseman might have made the play with ease.

Hudson: Sooooo hot. Want to touch the hiney….
Why ask a failed romance to come watch your successful one? You know, that's like inviting the Seattle Mariners to a World Series game. It's just weird for everyone.
Someone should do a hidey spank photo montage
to this video. Over and over and over and over…

Someone should do like a montage of spanks
to the song, “I Touch Myself” or something.

Ethier's hit was weak but it was still a hit. When I guy leaves his feet
its getting ruled a hit. Or if he’s playing at home.

It's better than that shit he does
where he hugs and pats opponents doing a pop-up slide into second.

I don't mind that
He plays the game pretty hard imo (which might not be worth that much) – I remember him going hard into second base at least once this season and stopping a double-play because his opponent had to get out of his way. I suspect he often whispers a bit of trash-talk into opponents ears while proffering some man-love, so he’s likely trying to freak them out as well :)

He could suck his thumb a little as he's about to slide into second
so the shortstop starting his jump over him has to think twice.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.
