Padres split series with Astros in nail biter finale
I should really write these game recaps immediately after the game or else I forget things. The only problem with this particular game, is that I was drifting in and out of a nap most of the game on account of it being Sunday and I woke up at 5 am that morning. Then to make matters worse I saw the Padres take the lead going into the 9th and I had such confidence in Heath Bell that I went out to run some errands.
I was hoping that Dex would swoop in and write this particular game recap, but no such luck. So instead you get my hazy memories of the game.
Nick Hundley almost hit a home run out of the stadium to start the scoring. He crushed it and blew my mind at the same time. Then Clayton Richard gave up 4 runs, which all but assured a Padres loss. When all hope was lost Jorge Cantu, who has been ill, got even iller when he hit a two run homer. Making the score 4-3 Astros.
The Astros' horrific defense then allowed the Padres to climb back into the lead. With the bases loaded and Venable up to the plate he drove in the go ahead run to right center field. It was 8-6 going into the 9th.
With Heath Bell coming in to record his 38th and record tying consecutive save a Padres win was practically already in the books. But Bell was struggling with his location and Will Venable dropped a fading liner into the right field corner to load the bases for the Astros. With two out Bell forced a ground out that ended the game with a Padres victory.
Somewhere in there Chris Denorfia slammed into the wall bruising his arm too, though that might have been a dream.

Goodness me
I was in class all day yesterday so wasn’t able to catch any of the game. I knew we’d won via the twitter, but now I wish I’d been able to see it. Sounds like a lot went on!
sounds like a typical padres game
blowing leads and winning in the last inning
I'm rated B for Boobies

We probably could score 86 runs in a game if we still had Adrian.

I turned on the game in the ninth with the bases loaded
Watching Heater “Save” the game… Man is amazing.
In other news… My Nephew Started his first two games:
2 1/2 innings, 7R, 4ER, 5 K, 4BB, 2 Hits: All of that with 5 Errors behind him, which scored all of his walks. His final inning on the second day was sweet though. 1IP, 3K’s, 1BB, 0 hits, 0R, 0ER.

Just in the Astros series?
Cause that would make me admire your ambition :)

You must've been dozing
in the top of the 6th, when , trailing by a run, and with Maybin on third, Blackie opted to let Clayton Richard bat, ending the inning, and preserving him so that he could allow two more runs by Houston in the bottom half of the inning.

Cantu's one decent day at the plate
Earns him the cleanup spot in today’s lineup. #budbot

I checked out the Astros OT after yesterday's game and it was incredibly surreal
they were all marveling at how Denorfia was just killing them. and they sent him well-wishes as one when he got that bruise.
I just checked that out... wow.
I think I’m gonna follow Norf the rest of the season…he seems like a Hunter Pence-type player. I liked him last year too…

its alright,
were gonna sweep the cubs phillies then braves in blowout fashion
nothing clever to say
Potential caption:
Maybin to Johnson: “Ewwww! Get away from me, you’ve got crabs!!!”
Ehhhh, I don't deserve a signature...
Another possibility
Johnson to Maybin:“Whether you’ve got crabs or not, I’m still about to tap dat ass”
Why ask a failed romance to come watch your successful one? You know, that's like inviting the Seattle Mariners to a World Series game. It's just weird for everyone.
