Uh Oh...Mat Latos has been sidelined with a sore right shoulder
Mat Latos, believed to be the front-runner to start for the Padres on Opening Day, has been sidelined with a sore right shoulder.
San Diego manager Bud Black told reporters Friday morning that Latos will not make a scheduled start on Saturday.

so now...
what is the projected linewp?
Richard, Harang, Stauffer, LeBlanc, Leubke (Moseley)
I drink therefore I am.
W. C. Fields
Hopefully he still makes the start on opening day
Doesn’t say anywhere he’s been scratched for that. Hopefully he wakes up tomorrow and it feels better. But I would go with your rotation. Might work out that we don’t need a fifth started until the second (or third?) week of the season.

i can't take anything seriously during spring training
when you’re pitching 200 innings a yea, you’ll rarely feel 100%…. the thing is though that during spring, budbot will sit you if there’s any chance of aggravating something. after all, why risk it if it’s just spring?
Apparently he didn't feel anything wrong while he was throwing
I guess that could be a good thing.

Makes it very odd
Either he injured it after the game or he just didn’t notice it/it got worse over time

He said he felt fine after the game, but it hurt the next day.
The trainers say it’s an inflamed bursa sac, and he said after treatment he feels much better.
To a non-doctor like me, that sounds good. I’ve never heard of a pitcher needing bursa sac surgery.

WHY DIDN'T WE SIGN OLIVER PEREZ WHEN WE HAD THE CHANCE?!?!?!
(just kidding!)
Ehhhh, I don't deserve a signature...
Doesn't sound like anything serious. It just sounds like regular inflammation.
If it was rotator cuff problems I’d be worried. But this is just normal soreness from exertion and physical stress. Once he’s been able to get his conditioning up to game level, he should be fine. A guy like Latos puts a hell of a lot of stress on his joints.
