thanks for compiling this, but

i doubt parrino and tekotte make the team out of ST. their spots are likely to be filled by forsythe and ecab unless byrnes is trying to get them extra at bats.

also, alonso is almost a lock to make the team

We have a payroll under 44 dollars?!?

Spend more money, ownership!

Why ask a failed romance to come watch your successful one? You know, that's like inviting the Seattle Mariners to a World Series game. It's just weird for everyone.

actually

they’re still working on bringing guys in. beltran on a 2 year deal would do some nice things for our offense. the fact that they were discussing a rizzo/matt garza swap is a good indicator that they actually are willing to get up to that mid-$50m payroll

I just wouldn't want to lose too much for Garza

He’d be a great pick-up, but I don’t want to see the Padres give too much for him. Beltran would be interesting for the right price. If anything, a Quentin trade would be something to strive for in my opinion.

you mean ryan quentinwick?

if we want a LF who can’t field, or stay healthy, while hitting .240 and providing dead pull power we can get blanks to do it for free.

but Carlos is from SD

We need some hometown guys now that Harang is gone. Is there anyone left?

Byrnes has no problem

making big moves
I have a feeling, our roster will look much different by April 1

On the other hand, you have different fingers.

it really can be surprisingly good

Luebke continues his performance.

Last year 1.5 years was the real Staffer.

Richard…..I think that he is probably just an average number 4 starter,

replace Moseley with Bass, and make Moseley the swing man.

Let’s see what Volt can do with a full ST with Balsely and Budbot,

But we have a ton of arms waiting right now that we will see come up.

My prediction, we will have a top 1/3rd tier starting pitching by the end of the year that is inconsistent and only has 2-3 of those guys listed by the end of the season in it.

I know the idea has been floated as a joke

but is there any real chance we make a play for Hanley Ramirez? He’s under team control until 2014, he’s coming off a down year and the Marlins just signed Jose Reyes; his value has never been lower.

Do we— hypothetically— match up well enough with Miami to make the trade? (Assuming everybody on the block.)

We do match up well

Headley, pitching prospects, etc.

Others don’t like him. I think the main issue is his attitude, but some might have concerns about him not being able to stay at SS much longer.

I would like the move though. Even if his defense isn’t great he should easily be a 3+ WAR SS, with upside for more. Which is better than any internal options or free agents we could put there over the next 3 years.

I think a change of scenery would help him out-- although to a stadium that's consistently near empty, probably not.

And he’d almost certainly be better than the black hole that is Jason Bartlett. It’d definitely be a splashy move that helps wake the fans up, as well as the offense.

Are there serious concerns about his range at short? He’s only 28.

Also, if we're bringing in offense I like him a lot more than a dead-pull hitter like Carlos Quentin.

Actually, Roy Oswalt is still available if we want to push that payroll up into the 50somethings.

Well, that's a shame, there are some good ones on the market

Maybe he’s just trying to downplay the Rizzo/Garza buzz?

First priority should definitely be middle infield, though.
