Usually the guy who wins the Triple Crown really is the best pitcher. Looking at the list, I don't really see any non-deserving Cy Young winners. Well, except for maybe one: Jake Peavy, just four years ago. National League West power pitcher in a pitcher's park ... sound familiar? I argued at the time that Brandon Webb deserved serious consideration. Webb did finish second, but Peavy was listed first on all 32 ballots.

Webb did deserve consideration.
He finished ahead of Peavy in fWAR by 0.8 of a win. Peavy was ahead of Webb in rWAR by about 0.1 of a win. WAR is park-adjusted from both sources, so it should take care of his concerns about park factors. Both were deserving choices.

Usually the guy who is UNANIMOUSLY chosen for the CY Young award really is the best pitcher.
