Padres sweep Dodgers; take 2 game lead into Giants series

Hey so you probably already know by now but the Padres shut out the Dodgers last night to complete the sweep.  They seem back in their groove don't they?

Corey Luebke earned his first win by pitching six scoreless innings.  As Dex might say "he was amaze!"

The Pads had a big 6th inning.  Will Venable dropped a bloop single behind the short stop.  Everth Cabrera hit a bunt single. David Eckstein hit a bunt single.  Then Luis Durango inside outted a pitch to start the scoring.  Chase Headley reached on a fielders choice and then Adrian Gonzalez hit a sac fly to score.

There was episode later in the game when Will Venable was called out for leaving the base line even though he never stepped to the side only ducking down to avoid the tag.  It was a horrible call that cost the Padres a run, but at least it didn't affect the outcome of the game.

This is a lame game recap, but my morning sucked so it's all you get.

Luebke looked sharp last night

Though I get reminded of Shaggy from Scooby-Doo when I look at him.

So I'm listening to the game last night,

And I heard the name Mike Winters, and the hair stood up on the back of my neck, though it took me a few seconds to remember who he was, then it all came back to me. I hate that guy.
Somebody’s right on it, though, Wikipedia as already been updated with last night’s call. Creanium?

Bart: But, dad, you're giving in to mob mentality.
Homer: No, I'm not! I'm hopping on the bandwagon. Now, come on, son. Get with the winning team.

I saw that last night

I really hope it was somebody from here

So that's how we know that a-hole.

Oh, I thought people knew who he was

My racist comments may have been misconstrued in retrospect.

No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.

I was at Monday's game and hadn't noticed when they announced the ump crew.

When I realized Winters was behind the plate, the strike zone suddenly made sense.

According to Buddy Black

Winters told him after the game that his call wasn’t that Venable was out of the baseline, but that Theriot tagged him out.

Just so we’re clear in exactly what manner he blew the call.

And then Sam and I proceeded to try to figure out

Which racial slur he used when referring to Will Venable. Good times.

No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.

'twas not I

I would have updated Mike Winters’ entry in the GLB Wiki anyway. Speaking of which, I think I’ll do that right now …
