Padres beat Dodgers 4-2, everybody forgets about losing streak
Last night I was all settled in for a lazy Labor Night, but as game time approached I was getting too nervous. I needed to be around other Padres fans. I needed to be among my people. So just as the game was starting I rounded up a friend and we made a last minute mad dash to the ballpark. We got there about 3 minutes before Nick Hundley's home run in the third. There was a feeling of confidence in the ballpark that didn't exist on my couch.
Over the last week the Padres were like Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom, when he is forced to drink the blood of Kali Ma. They weren't themselves. We the fans were Willie Scott in chains and the Padres were trying to rip our hearts out of our chests with their bare hands to show it to us before we were lowered into molten lava. Last night the fans were Short Round. Sure Indy backhanded us across the face, but we took the torch and burned the hell out of him to awaken him from his evil ways. I feel like the Padres were awakened last night from a deep dark slumber.
My favorite moment of the game was Mike Adams fielding a ball hit behind his back and then throwing the runner out from a seated position on his tight little ass.
Or maybe it was Adrian Gonzalez laying down a bunt to beat the shift.
Or Pad Squad Andre telling me to get a hair cut.
Or maybe it was the guy teasing the fireworks the entire game on the PA system. He had a super creepy voice. I'm not a guy that likes to watch fireworks except on July 4th, but he made it sound like people might be seriously injured or mortally wounded during the fireworks display so I stuck around. It was pretty good and they even showed a video montage that featured Gaslamp Baller matthewverygood and his Yoda backpack.
Good win. It feels good to have that losing streak off our backs. Winning is delightful.

I admit
I got home last night and checked the score…we’re winning in the sixth.
I had to shut it off. I couldn’t take it! And I was almost afraid to check the score this morning.
PHEW!!
From about the 7th inning on
I was shielding my eyes from the television a little. It was like I was trying to stare into the sun. Too excruciating to continue watching, too spectacular to look away.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.

Made it into the video montage
Gonna add that to my resume.

This was the first game all season
I didn’t check the score at all. It was too painful.

ME TOO. but mainly because I had to go to sleep early.
Not because I’m a foulweather fan, like you.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.

It already had five before I saw it so apparently it's not just me.
Do with that information what you will.

We can still make things green?
But, it doesn’t have 60 recs yet.

The crowd was electric last night.
Dodger fans were shouted down in seconds. Winters was jeered on every bad call. And we cheered like it was the World Series every time the good guys scored. There may have only been 23,000 fans, but they were a great 23,000. And now everything feels right with the world again.
Damn skippy, Mike Adams is a pimp
Right after he made that play, I suddenly said out loud,“He’s a god, he’s a god.”

Hopeful but terrified when I checked the result – then just gruntled!
