San Diego Padres Fan Confidence Poll: 9/6/2010
I don't want to sway your confidence at all, but if I were at the game today, I probably would've booed other Padres fans who I didn't think were booing loud enough. Like, I would've been over booing the Padres and the umpires and the other team and I would've moved onto Padres fans who weren't supporting my cause.
Actually, booing Padres fans who weren't booing loud enough would've been on the low end of the scale.
More on the high end of the scale would've been trying to urinate onto the field of play. The field of play reminds me of a toilet and the players remind me of turds.
I'm glad that they got Miguel Tejada though. At least somebody on the Padres was trying to play baseball at the baseball game today.
The rules are simple. On a scale of 0 to 10, 0 being no confidence at all, 10 being absolute confidence, How confident are you in the San Diego Padres organization?
"Confidence" is just about anything you want to interpret it as. The front office, the future prospects, the play on the field, the park, etc etc etc

I've been a 7 almost all year
I voted 8 a few times, and maybe 6 one time, but it’s been 7 most of the season.
I’ve dropped down two points this week.
There is no way to sugar coat it. Eventually the losing streak will end, but it remains to be seen how they will play the rest of the month.
Still at a 10
The losing streak has to end sometime, I think it’ll be soon. Like today.
I’m not worried.

6.
I hate to admit it, but I’m really shaken up right now.
I am deeply sorry I let my faith slip.
Can I right my wrongs and go back to a 10?
I dropped to 5
10 in a row…. 10 in a row… statistically speaking, that’s hard to do. It takes talent.
It really seems to me like we have forgotten how to play baseball like we played early in the year. We are not getting it done, and I don’t know how anyone can have confidence at this point. 4 comments out of ~76 votes…
And the votes are all over the place.

Until they win again and rejig the team – lets try something new, park Ludwick, maybe get in Gerut, at least try something different.
Hopefully Latos will win today, but unless he throws a complete game, the bullpen will probably cough it up again.
I’m going tomorrow, will be distressed if the losing streak continues.

If the Pads can’t snap out of this, and soon, they’re screwed.
Worse enough, history tells us that the Fat Lady has sung: Only two teams have dropped 10 straight and still made the playoffs – the ’82 Braves and the ’51 Giants

And neither of them did it in September
The 1951 Giants lost 11 straight in April, and the ’82 Braves had their streak in first half of August.
They both had more time to recover.
The ‘70 Twins lost 9 straight in early August, but made the playoffs also. It’s not 10, but close enough.
How are you going to lose
11 straight games in April and be in first place?
The ‘51 Giants did not catch the Dodgers until the final weekend of the season. In fact, the man responsible for that season’s most famous event just passed away

As for the ’82 Braves, they fell out of first after the 8th loss, and then were back in first about 2 weeks later.
The Twins went from a 9 game lead to a 4.5 game lead.
Thanks for answering the rhetorical question.
I’m well aware of what the ‘51 Giants did, but you’ve totally missed my point. Let’s wait to declare the season over until we’re no longer in playoff contention, okay?
I'm at an 8
Its frustrating to watch this stretch of games, but last time i checked this is the BEST SEASON EVAR! Things are never as good or bad as they seem.

Still Rocking At A 9
Every team goes through a rough patch at some point in the season…. sure this is one hell of a rough patch, but they are still in first place and even if the Giants somehow manage to knock them out of it they can always grab the wild card.
Why so down? Just crank up the music and bang your head some!
I don't see the wild card happening!
If we don’t play well enough to win the division, chances are we aren’t going to win the wc either.
I think it is win the division or bust.
lol at the 42 zeros
I downgraded to an 8.

I didn’t expect a ten game skid, but I didn’t expect September to be a breeze, either.

I did a 5.
This streak has done something for me. Which is sever my complete emotional attachment to the team. I am still watching, but my mood is no longer tied to their success.

10 to a 7
in the space of one week. WTF just happened? I hate it when the out-of-town casual fans talk about how the Padres can’t hit (wrong)—and then the Padres prove them right.
I was SOOOO fired up when we got Ludwick. I figured him to be just as good as Corey Hart for a low, low price. Right. Nothing but whiffs and popups. Miggie has been real good, though. A whole lot better than Cabrera. Headley and Venable are MIA again. Who’d’ve thought we’d be depending on Nick Hundley to carry us from the eight slot?
Still, Pads have the lead and four against the Giants this week-end. Right the ship, beat the Giants, stay ahead, win the West, win the Series. Simple, follow-the-dots plan.

Actually up from a 5 the week before. Dudwick had better prove his worth in Colorado, because he sure has shown he can’t hit in pitcher’s parks: I was at a game against the Pirates in which he went yard to deep center, but otherwise he’s only got warning track power…. Maybe the Cardinals knew something we didn’t….
Have to take 3 of 4 against the Giants and hopefully 2 of 3 in Colorado; if those two things were to happen I’d probably be back up to an 8 (but at least a 7), especially if we can complete the sweep against the Dodgers. Obviously the pitching has been better for the first two games of the series; now if the offense could get untracked, we could get rolling again…. Come on, Pads!
