Hoffman Should Retire
I'm hoping Hoffman can get his 600th save before the end of the season. If so, he should retire before he starts embarrassing himself and becoming like John Franco who hung around trying to pad his stats but ended up being a huge liability for the Mets. I fear that Hoffman wants to try and keep some distance between he and Rivera for all-time saves but ........ the reality is, even if he holds his statistical lead, Hoffman will never be considered to be the greatest relief pitcher of all-time. He'll definitely be among the top 10 (and probably top 5) but ..... he will jeopardize his stature if he hangs on just to try and rack up a few more saves. Retire after this year, Trevor. You've had a great run so go out with your head high.

I agree
I see he’s at 599? Hopefully he will make the plans and then come back to SD for a courtesy contract so he can retire as a Padre.
Agree
That would be great. Play one more year, take a victory lap and maybe rack up a few more saves.
YOU should retire.
There, jodesed that for you.
