PrintThese are some bad times, powerful bad. I used to think it would be really hard to lose 8 games in a row but the Padres have made it look easy. That's how you can tell if somebody is good at something, if they make it look easy.
You know what stats have really been bugging me during this losing streak? The ones where they say "If the Padres just play .500 ball for the rest of the season then..." and then they tell you how many wins the opposition would need to overtake them. The main flaw with that feel good stat is that it's kinda hard to play .500 ball and sometimes it seems impossible.
I liked that huge home run by Nick Hundley in the 7th and the Eckstein's fiery passion in the bottom of the 9th. Those were good, we need more of that.
Good news: The Giants lost. Padres keep their 3 game lead.
Dex and I will be at the game tomorrow, you should come too.

Yea, that was a damn good special. For my money it's still the best rivalry in all of sport.
I’m also loving how fans of other teams in the Big Ten are legitimately afraid that they could possibly name the new divisions “Bo” and “Woody”.
Just checked and if it gets preempted you can always stream it on ESPN3

This game recap was put up awful fast after the game. Its almost as if you just assumed we were going to lose and wrote it during the game.

The worst part about this is they've thrown away every advantage they had.
No more home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Heck, not even home field for the first round. Right now, they’ll be lucky to win 90 games, and if the playoffs started tomorrow they’d have to travel to Atlanta.

I agree
that game looked a little different than the other 7 losses. We played better baseball, although we obviously need to take advantage of opportunities more. The 5 walks were huge. Need more of that.
Not just the walks.
There seemed to be a lot more patient at bats.
I was at the game....
They didn’t look too bad, despite the loss. Seem to be better than they were on the road.
Key Lube was OK after the first three crappy innings, we were in it until the end.
We’ll win tomorrow.

I want to aggregate the boxes/lines from this losing streak, our stats vs. our opponents. pretty convinced if I look at things like RISP BA and average runs per HR we will see that the other guys are getting some good fortune.
