Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Padres fail to score with bases loaded in the 9th; Lose to Cubs 0-1

The Padres have now been held scoreless for the last 16 innings.  Nick Hundley flew out to left with the bases loaded to end the what could have been a gutsy comeback win.  If you're not frustrated then you probably weren't following the game.

The Padres were losing 0-1 with two outs in the bottom of the 9th.  Yorvit Torreablba hustles his ass off, diving head first into first base trying create a spark that could ignite a comeback victory.  He's safe with an infield single.  Buddy Black replaces Torrealba at first with the speedy Everth Cabrera who promptly steals second on a very close play.  Chase Headley then is awarded first base when the umpire says he was hit by the pitch.  The ball definitely didn't hit his front foot but might have grazed his back shin.  In any case the Padres have two men on with Anthony Gwynn Jr. at the plate.  Gwynn draws a walk loading the bases.

Nick Hundley is at the plate, he takes the first pitch for a ball.  The crowd is so into the game.  They believe!  Hundley then chops what would have been the second ball foul.  Nobody understands why he swung, not even Hundley.  Okay, we all make mistakes, Nick still has a chance.  Then he flies out to left, sucking the life out of the ballpark.

Since then this is what I've been up to:

My anger crawled inside a cocoon of frustration where it has now hatched into fluttering depression.

See you tomorrow.  Go Padres.

Bad Brains

I’m surprised by how many people on this site know them.

Thanks for the dose of PMA, guys. I needed it this morning.

I wasn't feeling well enough to watch the game.

Good thing.

Ask any baseball player, any real baseball player. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning.

Ugh

Frustrating loss.

I don’t know what’s harder; playing this many games in a row, or drinking while watching this many games in a row. Glad I have tomorrow off. #newrespect

just got back from the game

weird crowd tonight… didnt really seem in the game til the ninth.

part of that might have been the fact that it was 3249087234052987345 degrees today.

i’m just as frustrated with our offensive ineptitude tonight as the next guy, but im not doom and gloom at all. this season is still very much alive. and we are going to prove that tomorrow.

That was frustrating. It’s really not necessary to wait until the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs kids!

This is a rollercoaster

One second I’m sure we’ll make the playoffs, the next we’re on the outside looking it. One thing’s for sure, this is some fun baseball.

Mat rights the ship tonight with a DOMINATING performance and the Padres get back into first with a Gigantes loss.

Adrian will reach 100 RBIs tonight.
