Texas Rangers to receive $3 billion in new 20-year TV deal - Daily Pitch: MLB News, Standings, Schedules & More - USATODAY.com
I wonder how this will affect the Padres when it's time to negotiate their next television deal. $150 mil a year is crazy.

Ummm...
Wouldn’t that be the Padres’ entire budget (not just players, everything) TWICE?
And I would like to hear the Fox Sports executive’s explanation as to why the Rangers, not the Dodgers, Yankees or anyone else are worth $150M a year.
That doesn't seem right.
I’m no mathematician, nor am I a TV executive, but that’s like $1 million per game. Do the Rangers really draw enough viewers to sell more than $1 million in advertising every game?

So they're pretty much effed if I watch Rangers games on mute?

Bet they'll be kicking themselves in the asses 20 years from now,
when 3 billion dollars is equivalent to about 3 million dollars, wishing they hadn’t signed such a short-sighted, long term deal.
