Padres keep on losing, in more creative ways than before.
There was a time late last week when I had just convinced my non-Padres fan co-workers and friends that the Padres were for real, and then they do this.
I mean, come on.
Our playoff odds are now down to 87%, which would've sounded f_cking fantastic in April, but here in September after tasting the sweetness of over 96%, it looks like a kick in the balls.
The Giants are now only 3 1/2 games behind us and could pull to 3 after tonight. I'm feeling like we're never going to win a game again. I hope we win again soon. I'm not even sure what to think. It just all feels so surreal.
Go Padres, I think.

Someone must have messed with Yoda
I officially floccinaucinihilipilificate Drew Gooden, Gerald Wallace, DeJuan Blair, Scott Brooks, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the internet!
The only person who tries is Latos
If I’m him, I refuse to give up the ball in my next start. He can’t count on anyone else on the team. The guy deserves a better fate.
I signed on for a 20 game package next year.
I totally jinxed it.
I blame the U-T
The day the losing began, there was a blurb in the paper about what team had the biggest collapse to miss the playoffs (the 1995 Angels). The Padres haven’t won since. Thanks a lot, asshats.
Yep. That's a hex.
There’s only one thing to do, UN-hex the team!
Anybody know a good un-hex?
The only one I know is to write “San Diego Padres 2010 World Champions” on a piece of paper, hold your left hand over it, palm down, and while moving your hand clockwise, utter the magic words, “shimmy shimmy, coco-bop, shimmy shimmy BOP!” and rap your knuckles on the paper, and BAM! It’s done.

The 07 Mets
the most epic collapse of all time
Please Padres, leave the Mets with that title

I did even worse. I took the days of the World Series off from work just in case.
I didn’t want someone else to beat me to it.
Everyone was saying that this team had not been tested with adversity. Now they have.
Starting Friday, we find out if they passed the test.
Once we find out what kind of
magic Trubie Jesus’ grandfather was up to, we’re gravy!
Even the kid from Easter Island can do one sit-up.
It kills me that we have an off day tomorrow
I just want a win as soon as possible. We HAVE to win on Friday, just have to.
Mat Latos is the real deal...Go Lakers, Pads, and Bolts

Maybe it's time to turn to Jobu for help?
We ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. Anything to get over this slump….

At least the NFL starts up next week.

We seem to be hitting the ball ok
it just seems like we can’t string enough of them together. I’m too lazy look it up, but it seems like we have had more hits than our opponent several times during this streak.
I find myself being really frustrated for a couple hours after the game, but talk myself into the fact that everything will be fine. I still believe! we are going to get this turned around. And we are going to be a stronger team for having endured a stretch like this.

these games have been the complete opposite of the rest of the season
no clutch hits
laughable defense
bullpen meltdowns
inattentive play
I keep telling myself, the Padres will follow this with a huge winning streak
"I post like canned meat."
I'm pretty disappointed in Ludwick.
I know, small sample size and all, but if all we’re going to get os league average production out of him, we may as well have stuck with Denorfia and Venable everyday in the corners and kept Jake Westbrook, who has been fantastic for St. Louis. Would have fixed the back end of the rotation.

I feel like Ludwick gets a little more credit than he is due for 2008
He had an amazing season, to be sure. The power potential is there. Consistency, though, is not.

The Losing Streak
I have been so traumatized by the losing streak that I forgot to attend my fantasy football league draft last night. Trust me when I say that autodraft is not your friend.
I am convinced that my developing cold and back ache are do to stressing out about the Padres.
Take your vitamins boys and girls and fight through TEH SUCK…it will make October baseball all the more sweeter.
BELIEVE
Please do not have a losing streak
as long or longer than your winning streak.

We need to give our team the Heimlich maneuver. Everyone pitch in.
I will be shaving my beard off later today. I will then ritually listen to “Everybody Get Up” and “There is Beauty in the World.”
And please, no Jim Mora replys. Keep the Faith.

this 10-game homestand
Will be a gut-check for our boys. First up, The Rox, and Aaron Cook, who has our number. Lifetime, he’s 13-5 with a 2.86 ERA. We need to get back to the basics: working the count, making the opposing pitcher throw more, stealing bases, making plays on defense, and pitching, pitching, pitching! This is Padres baseball, and that’s how we win.
"Since we only live once (that we know of) we should focus on enjoying our lives, not stressing to follow every single thing and trend that society impose upon us." - Thom Yorke of Radiohead
this is a string of bad events
No idea how long it will go, but this is where coaching and team chemistry are huge
it can spin out of control if guys get tight and down and press, stop doing what they have been doing and try to do too much, making things worse
if they focus on each play, at bat, etc with clear head, solid approach, the bad luck should stop and their incredibly consistent, solid play will return
also, comments on this site, prior to this slide, were making me nervous. talk about the post season, talk about our opponents “fading in the rear view mirror”. all understandable but way too early, starting to whiff of hubris, the karmic killer
i do believe, in a strange, vague way, there is some weird karmic connection between our focus and attitude on these boards and how the team plays
so the next game is a new game, the past 7 are done, nothing we can do about it, we are actually quite lucky to still have 3 games over the Giants, let us start afresh and go have at it
let’s go padres
I blame Heath Bell
He said that the Padres were preparing for a championship season in ST, and BAM awesome team. Someone tells him that the Padres won as many games as they did last year and he says all they need is one more, and BAM losing streak.
Heath Bell, time for you to run your big mouth again.
Ehhhh, I don't deserve a signature...
