Padres shut out the Dodgers
If you didn't see it, Chris Denorfia hit a really weird inside the park home run. It was a hard chopper up the left field line that juuuuuust hopped over the third baseman's glove and then took a little bit of a check off of the stands in the outfield and Scott Podsednik like, I dunno, wandered around for a bit and the next thing you know Denorfia was doing a AKGJ impersonation with an inside the park home run.
Kevin Correia helped start the shut out off nicely with a great appearance. Nice that he's getting his head back and putting together some good outings again. He's had the toughest season out of anybody and I'm glad that the Padres have stuck by him as he's worked to get things going again.
I guess the slump is over.

Kevin - hell of a performance tonight!
It was great to see the dominant pitcher we remember from 2009. If he can continue to play like this, then he’d be a great #3 or #4 starter in the rotation in the postseason.

He kept the ball in the park, which was good.
But he walked two and struck out none. He got by on BABIP luck tonight. I’ll take it, yhough.

On Frieri"s inning ending double play.
The baserunner going to second slid 10 feet early and cleared the throwing lane.

Great to see the Pads bounce back
And for Deno to contribute. Thank you, Will, for stealing that base and locking in a win!
Ehhhh, I don't deserve a signature...
Uh oh. The Padres one weakness:
Public Attention. Must stay under the radar!

Nice bounce-back win.
These guys really have a lot of heart and resiliency. They never really get down on themselves. Just suit and go about their bidness. I think the lack of payroll, disrespect in the media, and early lack of fan support contributed to this teams mental toughness.

According to Corey Brock’s twitter. That’s a pretty telling stat.

Not the other way around.
That is an amazing stat!

Didn’t they fire Philly Billy to bring back The Saw?
I'm not sure, but it was pretty bleak on 1090 for a while after he left.
The worst part was when they got those 2 former callers and gave them their own show. Worst. show. ever.

My first post
I’ve been lurking for a while, waiting to jump into the Gaslamp foray and Chris Denorfia has prompted me to do it. First, am I the only one that cringed when he hit what has to be the weakest hit homerun in MLB history (that is a true stat, I checked), knowing that it meant he will be attempting to hold down center field tomorrow night? And then the lovefest that followed in the dugout between him and Bud. I’m just saying, they may be a little excited about a recent court decision in California. That might explain why he is in the lineup as much as he is..

Bandwagon

It was like they have given up. They kept cheering like crazy when they would get a baserunner in the later innings but then the silence when we got out of it was great.

Doing some reading at MLBTR and saw that Brandon Webb
is considering coming back as a relief pitcher later this year for the D-Bags to “audition” before he hits free agency next year. Do you think the Padres would make a run at him? He’d probably come cheap right now, and we’ve all seen what he can do to the NL West.
TBD
I think he'd be a great addition,
however, I don’t think he’s going to come that cheap.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.
Of course, that didn't work out well for the A's
so maybe Webb would have to settle for less because teams saw what happened with Sheets.
They are similar but I think the edge goes to Webb who was a
Cy Young winner and finished 2nd the next two years.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.
Webb's injury is the same of CY's and Jeff Francis
Only worse. I wouldn’t want to take a chance on him.

Like tweeting at Jon Morosi? I got another one.
On last night’s Braves broadcast on Peachtree TV, Ernie Johnson repeatedly said the Braves had the best record in the NL, after beating the Giants. Here’s the thing…Ernie isn’t very good at math.
When the Braves won, that put their record at 62-46. At that time, the Padres record was 62-44. I have an English degree and even I can tell the Braves do not have a better record. It’s kinda moot now that we’re at 63-44 but I don’t think Ernie will even realize that is better. If you want to point out this mistake to Ernie, have at it:
http://twitter.com/TurnerSportsEJ
http://twitter.com/matthewverygood

I saw that game on MLB Net and I could've swore he said Major Leagues
Although I figured he meant National League anyway
I heard that too
Made me doubt myself. The world was upside down for a second.
