Padres kill the Diamondbacks a billion to nothing
I'm going to tell you again. I love me some Will Venable. He will hit a cycle before 2010 ends. He is my favorite.
I'll also tell you that it's ridiculous how good the Padres are. I'm sitting here, thinking to myself, How can they be this good? How is it possible? And the answer? Magic. And probably luck. Who knows.
The team I'm most worried about in the postseason is the '98 Yankees. Those dudes really had our number.
GO PADRES!!!

Great game! Small, but noisy crowd.
Got tons more of PEN and BELIEVE shirts in all sizes from Heath.
Anyone who is still interested but have not ordered a shirt from me,
are welcome to.
I will soon be contacting people who already have requested shirts.

"Savvy Chicks Dig the Bullpen"
What ballpark in Belgium would he be wearing it to that they would recognize it?

Here let me recap
-A guy from Belgium wants to know if you ship overseas.
-Donnie asks the guy from Belgium, “Would anyone have ANY clue what your shirt meant if you were wearing the PENitentiary one?”
-You show a picture of a shirt with a lot of very context specific images with cursive writing and say “What do u think?”
-Since it seemed obvious that your average Belgian would be confused by such a shirt I say, “That’s a no.”
-You go off an tangent
-I sarcastically point this out.
-Whoosh
-I apologize. Again, sarcastically.
-Whoosh, again.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.

Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
Whoosh
How is saying they won’t get the message con? Maybe that’s what he wants. Lots of people buy shirts not expecting people to get the message. Especially, ones from foreign countries.
Its false advertising to say he should buy it expecting Belgians to get it.
Also, he didn’t even ask. theodore donald kerabatsos did. And I don’t think it’s going to impact his shirt buying either way.
But, apparently you disagree. So, keep on keeping on.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
I see you as trying
to discourage sixpak from getting shirts.
I didnt advertise anything. Im simply selling shirts for Heath for charity.
The fact that it is or is not recognizable by people in foreign countries is not on the flyer.
"Savvy Chicks Dig the Bullpen"
I still don't see how you think I'm discouraging anything.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
I think
if sixpak were worried about his fellow Belgian’s level of “getting it” – he wouldn’t be a Padre fan.
TDK was just asking what that’s like, or what it would be like with this shirt.
Half the east coast U.S. hasn’t wouldn’t recognize an actual Padres jersey, I don’t expect any belgians to recognize one either.
He wants a shirt, ship him a shirt! :)

you have any idea how much it would cost to ship one(or a couple) shirts to Belgium? I remember that doing it via mlb.com/shop was pretty expensive. I think they used UPS as shipping company

Keith Law
was on TV this morning, still saying the Padres are not good enough to win it all. Keeping with the lame, outdated notion that the only offense the Pads have is Gonzalez..and that the Padres strong pitching won’t be enough against other playoff teams that also have strong pitching.
I guess Law forgot about the addition of Tejada and Ludwick
Don't hate the game, hate the nerds!

It’s the law of the baseball idiots. Before you ask why such a law was passed, remember that not only are they idiots, there are also a LOT of them.
I also think it's attributed to 90% of the public not being actual baseball fans....
There are millions of people who like baseball, watch some baseball, and casually follow their team and popular players. To most of the country, the Padres haven’t changed. They’re still a team of no-names that happen to be playing better than the rest of Manny Ramirez’s division.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.
Who the (bleep!) is Keith Law?
Judging from my obeservations, he hasn’t been watching the Padres play great baseball in the send half.

by LJbumfool on Aug 25, 2010 2:50 PM PDT up reply actions
I've heard that from other sources as well
and there’s one point where they’re correct, and that’s our starting pitchers. Mat Latos is great, no one disputes that. But there’s a fairly sizeable drop-off after that. Yes, Latos should be able to go head to head with guys like Halladay and Hudson and Carpenter and keep us in the ballgame. But it’s hard to look at the matchups and say Jon Garland vs. Adam Wainwright or Roy Oswalt or Jair Jurrjens is good for us. Or Clayton Richard vs. Jaime Garcia or Cole Hamels or Tommy Hanson.
It’s just a fact that those teams’ #2 and 3 are better than our #2 and 3. We’re going to have to win some matchups we shouldn’t if we want to advance. It’s certainly not impossible, as it’s happened numerous times already this year—Garland has beaten Wainwright and Josh Johnson (twice), and Wade LeBlanc has beaten Cole Hamels and Tim Lincecum. But it’s not a crazy position to take, nor is it one based on of disdain for the Padres. I’ll like our chances a lot better if Clayton can get back to where he was before the calender hit July.

somewhat funny story if you watch the clip of Buddy's postgame comments on MLB.com
The reporters brought up the topic of Oswalt being forced into the outfield in the Phillies game and asked if Bud had ever had to do that in a game. He said, yeah, sometimes you can see those situations developing where you’re running low on bench players in a long extra-innings game so at some point you have to go warn your pitchers, “Jon! Wade! Get your spikes on, just in case.”
But in previous years, he would say, “Doggy!” (Maddog/Maddux) and Maddux would always, without fail, say “Already got ’em on.” Gotta love the Professor!
