San Diego Padres Fan Confidence Poll: 8/23/2010
Confidence was oozing from the pores of Padres fans after the sweep of the Cubs. Then Padres pitchers traveled to Milwaukee where the Brewers gently bent them over and made sweet love to their backsides. Thankfully Jon Garland told the Brewers hitters that he had a headache and didn't want to share intimate time with them.
In the end the Pads went 5-2 last week and hold a 6 game lead in the NL West. They also passed another important milestone. They flew by 71 wins which was the universally accepted win total prediction by just about everybody in the media.
I think the Padres' Sunday record is a big reason why we're so confident on Mondays when we vote. Most of the time we like to think we're not as reactionary as other fans, but deep down we're probably just the same. If it wasn't for the Padres' 15-5 record on Sundays, these polls would probably average a good point lower. That's my hypothesis anyway.
I wish we had some sort of chart or graph to visualize these results.
The rules are simple. On a scale of 0 to 10, 0 being no confidence at all, 10 being absolute confidence, How confident are you in the San Diego Padres organization?
"Confidence" is just about anything you want to interpret it as. The front office, the future prospects, the play on the field, the park, etc etc etc

Been at 8 from the beginning of the season. Just feels right.

I think after we were swept by the Dodgers, way back when...
I dipped to 7 as well.

All in...
I’ve gone to 10. Watching the Giants flailing around trying to find the parts to catch us helps. Seeing those double digit leads over the rest of the division helps. Watching Phillip Rivers tackle that safety helped. I think we’re there, I think we’re going places. My heart is set up to be broken by a San Diego sports team yet again. You’d think after 40 years I would have learned, but I haven’t. I’m all in with this team.
Over the hill? What hill? I don't remember any hill...
Still sitting at 8

Bart: But, dad, you're giving in to mob mentality.
Homer: No, I'm not! I'm hopping on the bandwagon. Now, come on, son. Get with the winning team.

If someone posts all the data-points this season
I’ll gladly make some cool visual graphs and incorporate Sunday records, etc. in the analysis.
Would just need the date of the poll and the poll results (total number for each poll result).

A 6 game lead is very nice.

10 comes when we catch up to the Rays and the Yankees.

my confidence in the Padres was weak enough that I didn’t feel confident enough to even vote. However, these Padres rock the casbah and I give them a N9NE!!!
I was dating this girl from Canada... after about a month I found out she didn't know what sport the Padres played, she thought "padre" was spelled p-o-d-r-a-y and she thought it was some kind of a fish. Dealbreaker.
Are you rounding up or rounding down?

Remembering 1951 and 2007, I can’t go a full 10 on them yet. But his road trip was beyond expectations and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.

Great year, better future!
What I love most about the Padres is that they are doing it with mostly young players. We can hold on to some of these guys for many years to come. A lot of people are saying that we’ve been lucky and the players are playing above their level but that’s great too because we can trade them high for a premium. Either way the padres success this year is the biggest upset (greatest cinderella story?) in sports and is great news for season ticket holders and sports fans in San Diego.

Feeling good and riding high after sweeping the Cubs series, probably would have given an 8 but losing 2 out of 3 to the Brewers, TGJr on the DL and DNorf patrolling CF going to scale back my excitement a tad and go with a 7.

mine goes to Eleven.
