Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Padres chug the Brewers, avoid sweep

See that?  Padres did it again.  They avoided the three game sweep.  Now they are 14-1 after consecutive losses.  Bummer they lost the series but they had a hell of a road trip.  With the Giants loss to the Cardinals they take a 6 game lead going into tomorrow's off day.

The big hits of the game were Ryan Ludwick who hit a two run double in the 5th and Miguel Tejada who hit a two run double in the 6th.

Garland's  21 1/3 scoreless inning streak came to an end in the 5th when he gave up a two run shot to Ryan Braun.

We spent the second half of the game at Friar Tux, I think that turned out to be good luck.

Go Padres!

It's been so long since we last did it.

And to be very honest, the last time we did it, it started off really hot and then we got a little too excited and we blew our load way too fast. Just like that we went from pure ecstasy to a lot of crying and apologies.

Because jbox was asking about it....

Mud was telling a great story about Matt Stairs and Bud Black in the locker room before the game today.

Buddy was sitting in his office talking with some people and had the door open…Stairs goes walking by the office and in a really loud voice (so that Bud can obviously hear it) says “Apparently hitting a homerun isn’t enough to get you into the starting line-up around here.” And Buddy yells out that that rule only applies to players under the age of 40.

Pretty funny stuff.

Also,

yes, Rivers was wearing an SD cap for a bit. After the Goofy hat. And then he put on a fedora.

And the jacket he was wearing in the beginning was so Padres throwback.

I just think the stuff they put out is incredible.
And as for Yorke being annoying: I’ll grant you that. He can be a dick sometimes, but at least he hasn’t come off like some pompous ass like Bono apparently is.
