With less than 50 games left in the regular season, the division crowns and Wild Card berths remain up for grabs. The Yankees and Rays -- arguably the Majors' top two teams -- are locked in a dead heat atop the AL East, while the Red Sox have persevered through myriad injuries to stay in the postseason hunt. The NL Central race is also too close to call after the Cardinals picked up three games on the Reds last week with a series sweep in St. Louis. The Braves, the Twins and the Giants are clinging to small leads in their respective divisions, but other contenders are charging hard. It's difficult to remember another season in which so many teams carried legitimate postseason aspirations into late August. Buckle up for a roller coaster of a stretch run.
I just received that email and I didn't realize that the Giants were clinging to a small lead.
Here I thought the Padres were leading the division by 6.5 games.
Oh well... Go Padres!
