Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

I Hate The San Francisco Giants

Have you ever gotten over the joy of a sweep as quickly as after this particular sweep of the Pirates? I hated the fact that going into this series there was all that talk about how we had to sweep them. It just didn't seem like us. The taking it one game at a time thing is the biggest cliche in sports, but it seems that's exactly what this team has done this season. There are still 49 games to go and I just hope we don't get too far ahead of ourselves.

Nothing against the Pirates, no matter how much a team is struggling it's always satisfying to pull off a sweep, but we all knew what was looming this weekend.  Knowing how big a series this one against the Giants is, knowing how that little bitch Jonathan Sanchez was running his mouth...our baseball team deserves a lot of credit for concentrating on the task at hand and taking care of the Pirates.

According to everyone's favorite baseball writer...Ken Rosenthal tweets that the Giants have acquired Jose Guillen from the RoyalsEnrique Rojas says he'll play tonight. Smell that? Yeah...it's desperation.

So....enough of my blathering on and on....the reason I made this diary FanPost was because I can't wait for Around The Mission to get posted and I needed a place to spew my hatred for the f*cking Giants....so here it is.

Let the hate flow through you Padre fans...one reason I hate the Giants is because their TV color analyst had radical throat surgery in Nicaragua just so that he could change his voice to sound exactly like Mark Grant. True story.

This FanPost was written by a member of the Gaslamp Ball community and does not necessarily reflect the views of the Gaslamp Ball managers or SB Nation.

The Jose Guillen move is a joke.

Hey, why don’t we trade for a guy who’s no better than the other five outfielders we already have? Great idea!

Also, I’m sick of hearing about how “this isn’t the same Giants team” that we were beating the piss out of earlier in the season. Oh really? Why is that? Because they have Pat Burrell now? Because we haven’t had to face the new, dilapidated Tim Lincecum? Because Bruce Bochy is suddenly good at managing a baseball team?

If they’re relying on Pat Burrell to carry them to the postseason, well, in the words of Rick Sutcliffe, they got problems, man. Sure, he’s been pretty good since they got him, but I wouldn’t count on that being the case through the rest of the season.

Are we supposed to be worried about their pitching staff? Lincecum has been awful lately. And I like our rotation against any of their other guys.

So, yeah, suck it, Giants. We will be leaving McCovey Cove with our first place status intact. And there’s nothing Jose Guillen or Pat Burrell can do about it.

by theodore donald kerabatsos on Aug 13, 2010 9:05 AM PDT reply actions

Well I’d say it isn’t really Pat Burrell as much as Torres starting and playing out of his mind, Posey being called up and replacing Bengie, Huff hitting like a legitimate clean up hitter, AND Burrell starting to play good again.

I think it’s entertaining, as a Giant’s fan, to read all the SF hate coming from down south. Whenever I meet people from San Diego I get the feeling from them that there is this intense rivalry against SF. I don’t think people up here really share those sentiments/rage against the Padres. I guess when you expend so much energy hating the Dogers and Angels, there isn’t much left to go around southern cali.

Either way it should be a fun and entertaining series and with Sanchez’s comments I’m guessing both teams will be pretty fired up.

Yeah, it’s not like we added Buster Posey to our lineup or anything.

Anyways, should be a good series. Best of luck.

They needed someone to

put behind Aubrey Huff and Buster Posey. Thing is, if Pablo Sandoval wasn’t so disapoionting with a bat this season, Guillen wouldn’t be neccessary.

Over at McCovey, they’re just estatic…pissed off that he’s going to be wearing the orange and black uniform.

Guillen = Poison

I like the last paragraph of this article:
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/Giants-Royals-talks-on-Guillen-slowed?urn=mlb-261384

“[Guillen’s] tradeability was not helped last week when Sports Illustrated found an anonymous executive who said that ‘no contender’ should go after Guillen because his ‘personality/clubhouse rep may be second worst to Milton Bradley.’ "

Only a matter of time before his presence brings down morale in the Giants’ clubhouse. Good move. (For us.)

Yes.

But I have to admit I laughed at the observation about how “white” our pitching staff is. (Although I would have chosen Ernesto Fereri as the counter over Edward Mujica.)

What a bunch of self loathing large people from the north...

They are freaking obscessed over the Padres

600 comments so far in their preview and almost 1900 in their Guillen post.

We are not obsessed over the Padres.

We get that many comments for every opponent, regular game day threads total about 2400 posts. More if it is the Dodgers.

Obviously any links in the above post are probably NSFW

It has nothing to do with the Padres. MCC is just one of the most active blogs on sportsnation and it has much more of a “4chan/somethingawful/redditish” vibe in terms of rapid sarcastic comments, photoshopped pictures, and dancing gifs.

Pretty much every gameday post ends up have 3+ overflow thread for over 4k comments.

In other words, we are computer/baseball nerds.

I totally forgot that

since the Pads are playing the Giants this weekend, I won’t be able to watch the game at all. So I just sent mlb.tv the best nasty gram I could come up with.
It felt great, and I wanna just take a moment and say, thank you drama, for reminding me. I don’t mean it in a sarcastic way. Just thank you. I feel much better after telling those mlb b*tches off via e-mail. I might even call as well! I think I might be projecting my hatred of the Giants onto mlb, but then again, both are equally awful and soooo f*king annoying.

I know. Today's and sunday's games aren't though.

And I mean, really, who DOESN’T want to watch today’s game? And I know it isn’t mlb.tv’s fault. But f*ck! It isn’t logical at all to me.
Who has the location changer thingy or whatever? I need to try it.

I have the same problem!

I enjoy watching games at home on mlb.tv, but I live in northern CA, about 4.5 hours north of SF and mlb blocks the SF and OAK games.

Oh well, an excuse to go to the bar, where I can talk shit to all the giants fans.
