Padres allow two 5 run innings; lose to Rockies
I'm listening to the postgame show on XX Sports Radio and all the Foul Weather Fans are coming out of the woodwork. They're so happy they get to read from their list of complaints they've been saving up while the Padres were winning. These fans would rather their eternal pessimism be rewarded by telling everybody that they knew the Padres were going to lose than to actually have the Padres win.
Tough game to lose for the Pads. They lost two 3 run leads and gave up a grand slam in the 7th which was the final nail in the coffin. Nobody panic!
We'll get 'em tomorrow.

Echoes of 163
Maybe others already said this in the OT, but the back and forth of this game reminded me of 2007 way too much. Thankfully we have tomorrow this time at least, and hopefully we can rebound quickly. We’ve been too good for too long this season for it all to be over now.

Well, there was a grand slam...
The 07 Rockes kept adding and adding by the ones.

I was being sarcastic.
Wonko asked who Straus was, and I thought he was goofing around.
It was all in jest. I don’t think he’s the LeBron of baseball.

looking bad for him right now
Hopefully they can get him pitching like the SO/no hit machine he was earlier (as in like a week ago).

Worse loss of the year!
Rockies are red hot, our lineup is depleted, the reserves pick us up and give us a lead and Bud puts Gregerson in when he’s failed 3 times in a row prior. Go for the win and give your team confidence heading into the final two games before the break. Adams to pitch both the 7th and the 8th, then Bell. I’m on vacation on east coast, it’s nearly 2 am and I’m too angry to go to bed.
Correct
His e.r.a. is up to 3.00, and he’s responsible for 3 of our last 4 losses.
It was a good move for Black to put him in the game we were up 7-0 in (yesterday); he gave up the shut-out, and then he looked as though he may have found it, getting the rest of the side out in DC…. Obviously he hasn’t found it.
Sorry, but he has now lost the right to come in when the game is close. We HAVE to win one of the next two, and Black must treat it as though the next two games are play-off games; that means no chances taken with a guy who’s e.r.a. has almost doubled in his last 4 outings.
Until he rights the ship, Luke’s now in Gallagher’s old role; Webb also gave up runs today, but 2 of them were on the GS, and a couple of the hits he gave up were not hit hard at all…. Before striking out Hawpe, Gregerson gave up a scorcher down the line to Hawpe which was foul by a foot…. Then came the slam.
Sorry, Luke, you were fantastic until a week ago, but the wheels have come off. Black, you’d better not ‘f’ this up and put him in there with the game on the line any time soon.

couldn't agree more
the walk to Oliva signaled that he once again wasn’t right. 4 walks in his first 39.1 this year, 4 walks in his last 4 outings.
Would you rather be up two games in the standings and have lost tonight...or down two game and won?
It’s going to be alright.

Then, considering that I may be contacted in some form or another by a government agency, I would tell them that I did what had to be done. assuming they sympathize with my internal conflicts in regards to the Rockies team/ballpark/fans I will simply turn from the scepter of judgment imposed upon me by external forces, and whisper under my breath, “I did what had to be done.”"

HitTrackerOnline
Classified it as “Plenty,” saying it would have been a home run at 18 MLB parks. It had a “true” distance of 350 feet, adjusted for altitude, wind, etc. Which means it would have been a home run at PetCo Park as well

My apologies
The “true distance” was 365 feet. PetCo is 335 feet down the left field line

hmmm...
Not that I don’t think your argument holds any water, but, to let a machine convince you on the odds of how a pitch would fly in any given stadium is a bit hokey. I’m sure you know that to be the case. The Rockies have some really good hitters on their team, but because they Play in Colorado, Their long balls will always be scrutinized by opposing teams/fans. the fact is, there have been too many lazy fly balls that seem to carry into the outfield seats, and that has always been the case.

It is true that it can't be considered exact
Though it has been estimated the thinner air adds about 9% of distance to flyballs. Take that from 365 and you’re at precisely 335 feet. So it would have been essentially at the wall at PetCo even if HitTrackerOnline doesn’t do park adjustments. I thought they did, but now I’m not so sure.
Coors is definitely a HR park still, though not nearly as much as it used to be. I grew up learning baseball during the Blake Street Bomber days. That’s what a home run swing looked like. I’m still expecting home runs only to see them die well short of the wall. You’re right, HRs will always be scrutinized by fans, but often unfairly so. I’m sure I don’t need to remind you of last Monday as proof this team hits legitimate home runs

They did what they were supposed to do
they smacked De La Rosa around and got deep into the Rox bullpen. Shame that our bullpen dropped the ball. Or more apropos, let the ball fly out of the ballpark.
I still like our chances for tomorrow.

it should have been.
The triple slap then slaps that sobbing look off his face, which then begins the process all over again, where he looks happy to see his brother. So, in theory, I think the triple slap almost removes the pain of the frist few slaps, and allows for a moment of clarity.

glad bar has been raised so quickly
but Padres were bound to have a crappy road trip. Yet, the ballclub still is .500 in July after 6 consecutive winning months spanning back to last year. 1-3 on road trip and the panic button is pushed.
We don’t match up well against Rox, it happens. Hopefully, we win one of next two to avert a swing/loss of 3 games to them. Went to Strasberg game last night against SF- great seats – overall impression-this guy has amazing mechanics and poise- seems like every other person in the streets of DC is wearing a Strasberg t-shirt—the city is alive w/Strasberg fever :)
Padres 2010 Ole'
totes.
our team has being playing steady baseball for quite some time. Our pitching has been pretty consistent all year as well. To be honest, I dont know how we’ve been able to manage playing at this level for this long, but we have. If our pitching can get through the “dog days” then we’ve got a shot.

absolutely
New here (sorry about that, I’m a UVa student from San Diego and a long-time-first-time), and that’s exactly what I’m thinking. Every good baseball here on the east coast can’t seem to fathom how our team wins. We’ll be fine.
But then again, it would be nice to beat the Cardinals in the first round (if we get there of course) once in a while!
