WHERE IS MIKE ADAMS?
Current Padres Active Roster on their MLB website, July 5,2010
Notice anyone MISSING? I DO.
WHERE THE HELL IS MIKE ADAMS?
The Padres sign his little brother, Jason Adams, and now Mike's gone missing? WTF?
On ESPN, CBSSportline and Yahoo! Sports, he is still there.

That’s only 24 players …

Tell me about it!
The Roster is MISSING MIKE!
Sis and I are in semi-hysterics…
"Savvy Chicks Dig the Bullpen"
They're just missing a player.
I only count 24, and nobody new from Sunday’s roster.
I still feel more confident in Burroughs pitching than Mujica

Maybe if you mixed it up on occasion
he wouldn’t get bored and leave. =P

It's probably just a typo.

The proper parties have been queried.
We’ll let you know if we get an answer.

If you were Jed Hoyer
and had to trade 1 of our real good bullpen arms. I think Adams makes a lot of sense. Now, I would rather keep the bullpen intact, BUT…..
Heath Bell is the guy that most detached Padre Fans know, and trading him would only serve to look like we were conceding something this season. Bell wouldn’t be dealt because not only is he the team leader (#1 Padres Fan), but it would also be looked at as a huge negative by fans.
Luke Gregorson is a young guy who has actually been getting some national recognition, and he is nearly to the point where average SD fans know who he is :-) I do not think he would be traded due to his age/salary and growing reputation.
Ryan Webb is the other dominant bullpen arm, and I think his emergence is really what makes Adams somewhat expendable. Webb is young, cheap, controllable, and has just insanely filthy stuff.
Mike Adams is starting to be a bit pricy and has been injury prone over the last few years. Webb could fill his role in the bullpen, and Adams could actually be quite valuable in a trade. He has also flown pretty under the radar, moreso than Bell or Gregorson, alleviating some of the potential fan backlash.
I’m not saying that I think they should or will or have traded Adams, however if they were going to make a move with one of our real good bullpen arms I think Adams is the most likely to go.
Or maybe it’s just a typo :-)
Also, I think minor league bullpen depth plays a part
Poreda has been better in AAA, though his k/bb still sucks. Frieri has been their closer and has a 1.56 ERA.
Craig Italiano, Evan Scribner, and Brandon Gomes have all been nasty in AA too. These guys are all pushing an already stacked major league bullpen. If we are going to add any worthwhile pieces to the major league club, our biggest strength to deal from is definitely bullpen arms.

ah ok :-)
this little debacle did open my eyes up though…. trading a BP arm makes sense, and we have the organizational depth to stomach it.
no, it doesn't make sense
if Hoyer trades any of our pitchers, he’ll soon regret it. These guys are the biggest reason we’re a win shy of 50. Messing with what we’ve got going is just too risky. We’re winning, that’s all that matters. We don’t need to do anything dire in a trade situation this season. Let the fun of this team continue, and let’s see what happens.
"dire" is a bit strong.
If we want to stand pat or deal from the minors that is fine, but to pick up a bigger piece which they may or may not want to do it would at least be worth looking into. We certainly don’t have attractive trade pieces in the majors on the hitting side, other than adrian of course. We have to give value to get value.
this team is winning
there’s no reason to sacrifice a crucial player for a ? with decent stats. Let’s face it, this is the Padres organization. I don’t think we’re going to be looking for an all star type player at the deadline. Since that’ll be the case, it might be best to trade prospects for a starting arm or do nothing at all, but please don’t trade Bell, Adams or Gregerson. That would come back and bite us in the ass.

I'd like to keep the 7-8-9 intact as well
but from some of Jed’s recent quotes it sounds like they’re very high on Webb too. I believe that they think he is capable of filling one of those key roles, and if the right trade offer came along I’m sure they’d be tempted.
I really think you guys need to chill...
…. ;-)
This is what happens on off days. I F***ing hate off days!!
If anything...
the website roster would probably be the last thing to be updated if there was a trade, but this speculation is fun!
I like Adams
We should definitely keep the bulpen intact for the remainder of the year. They are the backbone of this team we badly need each and every one of them to be successful.
Heath is the one that will be a FA next year right? If anything, we should deal him to some AL contender to get something back in return.
Mat Latos is the real deal...Go Lakers, Pads, and Bolts
ahh
that’s what it was. I say we keep him then. Let’s keep the best pen in baseball intact and pick up another bat.

#Padres RP Mike Adams is still with team. MLB.com folks are working to get roster corrected. We’ll let you know if/when they’re are deals.
I’m guessing MLB added Jason Adams and removed Mike Adams. Fail.
