San Diego Padres Fan Confidence Poll: 7/5/2010
The Good:
- The Padres passed the half way mark in the season yesterday. They are on pace to win 96 games and lose 66.
- In the past week they went 4-3, ending on a high note with a three game win streak.
- Their season series record is now 16-8-3.
- The Padres also kept a 3.5 game lead over the Dodgers.
- Kevin Correia made a much needed quality start.
The Bad:
- Will Venable was put on the Disabled List.
- Of the 8 series losses, 3 of them were against the Colorado Rockies. On Friday we face the Rockies for the 4th time.
- The Rockies are only 5 games back, passing the Giants to move into third place in the NL West.
- Mat Latos is due a rest soon and at some point in the near future he will be missing his regular starts.
- Chris Young's rehab throwing was stopped yet again.
- Kyle Blanks might need surgery.
- Adrian Gonzalez missed Saturday's game due to a sore neck.
The rules are simple. On a scale of 0 to 10, 0 being no confidence at all, 10 being absolute confidence, How confident are you in the San Diego Padres organization?
"Confidence" is just about anything you want to interpret it as. The front office, the future prospects, the play on the field, the park, etc etc etc.
Vote your confidence!

I love this team! And who cares about the Rockies? No one! Plus, we just signed Mike Adams little bro, which made my day!

Ima put a 9 because Mike is missing off the MLB Current Active Padres Roster.

10?!
I think I’m crazy.
Gaslamp Ball Game OT: "Makes you happy in the pants"
MLB Network: "Keep believing!"
Heat: "Uhh, no. We know."
I put 9 also
I think having no pitchers for the ASG except Bell is gonna keep the fire going for the guys.
Just for some hypotheticals:
Edwin Jackson or Dontrelle Willis for pitching depth?

Can’t really complain about our team though..sure the bullpen has given in some runs, but it happens.

Hell no to Dontrelle Willis
Regular no to Edwin Jackson. He is pretty much Kevin Correia so far but with a no hitter.

I almost went "9" for the first time
Would have gone “8.5” if there were such an option…. ;)
If they can take 2 of 3 in each of the next two road series, I’ll probably go to a 9. If they somehow drop 2 of 3 to the Nats but then sweep Colorado, I’d do the same…. But even if they sweep the Nats, if they then lose 2 of 3 at Coors, I’d still be at an “8.”
Even a .500 road trip keeps me at an 8, so as long as there’s no sweep in Colorado….
8’s still darned good!… I’d been holding at a 7 for much of the spring until the last couple weeks: that last road trip was impressive — let’s go follow that up with another solid one!
Some of you guys are confident
I went with 7.
Will go up to 8 when we get a bat.
9 When I am sure we will make a playoff run.

8 for the first time. They are playing a good game
and they are talking a good game.
I think we will be making 1+ deals this July AND I think we will be playing in October.
10
I am expecting the Padres to win the world series.

Nine
Although, at some point, I gotta start thinking about 10 because the team seems to have confidence that shatters this scale.

The Padres remind me of blue-collar fellas, working hard, playing by the rules and hanging tough to get the W, and they still get the short end of the stick. I mean, Omar Infante? Really?

Well, we knew this was coming. Maybe his personal All Star snub is a blessing in disguise … but the disguise still sucks.
Hey, what happened to the Pads running wild on the bases? On May 26th (through 46 games) they had stolen 54 of 70 bases – since then (36 games) they’re 15-14 … why did the wheels fall off?
Are the Padres off today!

Oh, I voted a 10.

I am worried about a couple of things
- The bullpen is going to come back to earth at some point.
- Adrian slumping for a month or so.
- Still a lot of games against the Giants, Dodgers, and Rockies.
None of those by themself are a big concern, but a combination of things going wrong could spell trouble. IMO, this team has a thin margin of error.
they will hit a rough patch
92-70 should get it done 43-37 rest of the way….certainly attainable….they have put themselves in a great position
Padres 2010 Ole'
I say 93-69
They should go over 90 wins, though.

Dodgers and Rockies concern me
Giants are now going through a larger youth movement, and we’re 7-1 vs. SF this year

But only because Latos may miss some starts. And Young getting pushed back again.

I’ll bump that to a 9 if they’re still winning at the same rate when July ends.

When people disagree with Elliott, he'll yell and whine too
But he’s 2 years old, and that only happens sometimes.
Also...
No wonder you want 3 recs for a green so bad. In your mind, 9 votes is three greens and should literally be impossible to get.
I think my comment about polls being horseshit has been taken the wrong way.
Most of what we do on here is horseshit….that doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining. My comment was more of a shot at anyone that would vote a “0” on a team with the best record in NL.
Additionally, Dex….you’re still wrong about the recs. This is one of those times when you shouldn’t consider the source. The OT’s we have been KILLING deserve the green.
