should everth go to the minors?

Dont you guys think he should be in the minors? now that hes under control of the padres. it would serve him well if he went down to AAA or AA. The guy skipped AAA and AA and it shows. hes barley hitting .200. He could work on his hitting while down their and we could bring him up in a few weeks. i dont want him to flame out because i truly think hes the future SS of the padres. But its not a good thing to rush players.

So who would you bring up?

Would you have Jairston take over permanently at SS?

I need new pants.

He's having a sophomore slump

And it’s a fallacy to believe he can somehow learn something at AA or AAA that he can’t learn in the majors. He’ll be fine.

He's been hurt on and off this year

so I think that we should give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Also, a good point was raised in that we don’t really have another ML ready SS step in. It would be nice to get more production out of the SS position this year though.

I like Cabrera a lot, but he is going to have to compete with Cumberland in a year or two. It will be interesting to see how patient they are with the guy. He’s still real young, and he was rushed to the majors. If he doesn’t perform over the rest of this season I’m not sure how confident I’d feel with him being the outright starting SS heading into next season.

note.....

I voted yes from a player development viewpoint, because I think it would benefit him in the long run. But for the reasons I mentioned above it doesn’t make a ton of sense to send him down right now.

Yes

He should be getting regular playing time, just not in the middle of a pennant race.
