Padres lose to Marlins 4-2, Miguel Tejada ineffective

I didn't watch the game last night and I haven't caught up on all of the comments, but I get the feeling that people are pretty pissed that Aaron Cunningham was sent to AAA Portland as opposed to say, Everth Cabrera. To that I saw, HOGWASH!

Also, I say, I see what you did there, Padres. You send down the young guy who was doing halfway decent in a not so subtle way of saying, "Once the team is in Escondido, all you Aaron Cunningham fans can get your fix by driving 45 minutes up the 15!" SO SNEAKY. SO SNEAKY.

So, I also thought that Kevin Correia was supposed to start yesterday's game, but I see Wade LeBlanc up there. I actually did catch enough of the game to see Wade inside out a pitch to left field. I'd love to see a position player hit like Wade LeBlanc. He stands there, totally unassuming. When he takes his swing, he's obviously not trying to drive the ball. More like he just wants to just make some kind of contact, but almost purposely not too much contact. Like a golf chip shot or a tennis lob. He's not standing like an Ichiro, ready to sprint to first base. Instead, he just kinda waits there. He makes his decision to swing or not to swing well before the opposing pitcher has received a sign. And then it works and he's on base. Again, standing there sorta unassuming like it was supposed to happen.

I figure a position player that hit like that would be fascinating to watch every day.

OK. Let's win this series, Padres. As far as Miguel Tejada knows, all we do is lose.

GO PADRES!

Heading up to SmellA today.

Rocking the throwback jersey. I plan on yelling, “First Place Padres” or “It’s the Friar, bitch!” to any Doyer fans I see.

I need new pants.

You didn't miss much other

You didn’t miss much other then Wade hits better than he pitches…..at least for last night goes

I am clueless on the Cabrera uproar, he is rule V and unless I mistaken he has to stay up in the bigs for the year or get offered back. As far day to day value, Aaron doing the job; but it comes down to rules I reckon

We were just spotting Florida a game in this series; MLB just doesn’t want to us to embarrass the east coast writers too badly……..the next 2 will be in the bag

Uh, he was a Rule 5er last season.

We can send him wherever we please now.

Just for the record.

No worries.

I have that realization two or three times a day.

Padres trade for Ludwick

Mlb network reporting cardinals/indians/padres agree to three team deal.

Kras tweets the info http://twitter.com/tomkrasovic/statuses/20001080112

This is Huge!!!

I wasn’t expecting a Ludwick deal at all. We now have a new clean-up bat. As a St. Louis resident who has seen lots of Ludwick, I fully approve of this deal, although I don’t know what minor leaguers we gave up.

Ludwick good

Tejada (batting cleanup) bad

Non-#Padres source on Ryan Ludwick: “not done but its real far.” Two prospects involved. “90/10 going down.” “Pads going to win big.”

Heard this: If the CLE/STL/SD thing goes through, the Padres will send money and a prospect to the Indians.#trades

Union has approved trade. #Padres get Ludwick. #Cardinals get Westbrook, Padres give up two prospects.

The Padres are sending pitching prospect Corey Kluber to the Indians in the deal, tweets Nightengale.

Krasovic adds that the Padres will send pitching prospect Nicholas Greenwood to the Cardinals.

Non-Padres scout: "Great deal for SD. Kluber is a fringe No. 5 SP, Greenwood a non-prospect."

I was at last nights' game...

Good crowd.

I’m just hoping the Padres got teh suck for the series out in the first game

- clusterf on the base paths in the first innings
- LeBlanc teeing up two HRs – 88 mph fastball, top of the strike zone, both gone
- Torrealba caught stealing (presumably on a hit and run call that missed)
- jairston – consecutive innings ending DPs
- Deno’s crap throw in from left field
- Will Venables ever hit again? How come he is still here and Cunningham gone – didn’t cunningham play RF too? He looked almost as bad as he did Tuesday night.

It’s got to get better tonight – at least, even with the above litany of f-ups, they still only lost by two runs. Not like the Cubs getting chainsawed by the Rockies for 17…

MWG tonight.
