Breaking News
The Orioles announced that they have acquired minor league right-handed pitcher WYNN PELZER from the San Diego Padres in exchange for 3B MIGUEL TEJADA and cash.
Pelzer, 24, is 26-23 with a 3.83 ERA (364.1IP, 155ER) and 330 strikeouts in 79 games (68 starts) over three minor league seasons. The right-hander is 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA (94.1IP, 44ER) and 83 strikeouts in 22 games (18 starts) for the Double-A San Antonio Missions this year. In 2009 with Single-A Lake Elsinore, Pelzer went 11-8 with a 3.94 ERA (150.2IP, 66ER) and 147 strikeouts in 27 starts.
A ninth-round selection by the Padres out of the University of South Carolina in the 2007 First Year Player Draft, Pelzer was named the 7th-best prospect in the San Diego organization prior to the 2010 season by Baseball America. The same publication named Pelzer’s fastball and slider as the best in the Padres’ minor league system.
Tejada, 36, batted .269 (108-401) in 97 games with the Orioles this season. In 716 career games with Baltimore, Tejada hit .305 (876-2870).

I don't get all the hate for the Tejada deal.
We gave up a pitcher who maybe someday might be a decent reliever. Who cares?
I can’t stand to see Everth taking at-bats in crucial situations. I would 1,000 times rather see Tejada in those situations. It’s not like we’re never going to see Everth on the field again.
Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Jim Edmonds after going from the Padres to the Cubs type transformation. There was tweet just a little while ago (can’t find it now) from a Baltimore writer who said he’s never covered a guy whose performance was so affected by where his team was in the standings. So… going from the worst team in the league to one of the best ought to have some sort of positive influence, I hope.

Also, indifferent on Tejada deal… I have to take a look at some stats, but Everth has been hurting (himself) this year with his poor at bats. We will have to see how good/bad Tejada’s defense really is.

I went to Tuesday’s game with a big Dodgers fan, who told me that Kuo has had 4 Tommy John surgeries and there are certain “Kuo rules” that they play by. Since he went for 2 innings on Tuesday, he said it’s very doubtful he’ll be allowed to pitch again until Friday.

Tejada can’t possibly play worse (he could play the same though) as he did for the O’s. And at that level he’s a sideways move for SS and a platoon partner for Chase.
However, we could catch lightning in a bottle. Its not like he forgot how to hit, his skills are just eroding. So, its a lottery ticket for a minor leaguer that wasn’t a top prospect. I’ll take it. But, don’t play him at SS everyday. Especially with Garland on the mound.

His stuff still impresses and he’ll probably switch to relief. Pitches can have issues when they get to AA, but the talented ones like Pelzer can usually work it out. At least he hasn’t embarrassed himself there. He’s held his own.

Somebody decided that their local team is Seattle. But, no one broadcasts the Mariners games in that region. Its like a 10 hour drive to get to Safeco field. The games are blacked out if you buy MLB.tv. So, because they are Mariners territory, there will never be a way to see Mariners games.
