Boston Red Sox - Gonzalez likely is gonzo, it’s now a matter of when - The Boston Globe
"For me, all I know is that I’ll be a free agent after next year, but I’m here and loving it. After that, I have no idea. I’ve always said that I’d prefer to stay here. Playing at home has great benefits in that you get to play in front of your family all the time and see your family. There’s no substitute for that. There are downsides, like the constant requests for tickets and everyone wanting you to do things and make appearances. But at the end of the day it’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.’’ -

Cox on the Padres: "It’s very important. It really is. We haven’t seen them in a long time. When you think about them you think about their pitching. Their pitching is fantastic. Not just their starters, they have the best bullpen ERA. They’re tough to score off of. But we’re very confident in our starting pitching, so it should be a great three games of pitchers’ duels." -

i hated the Globe when i lived in Boston
and i still hate it. these people are convinced that everyone on earth wants to be in boston, and if they arent there, its because they havent found a way to get there yet. this goes for sports, other news, everything. its absurd.

I personally have never been to Boston but I hate everything about it, the Celtics, the Red Sox, the Patriots. I went to school with some kids from Boston and they thought they were so cool with all their Red Sox garb…not cool.

Boston is a fantastic city, from top to bottom
that was a hell of a place to live. and i would do it again. in an east county meth head heartbeat.
if it werent for Bostonians and Boston sports fans… those people singlehandedly make Boston rather annoying.
if you emptied out the city and filled it with like, girls from the South, for example, it would be fantastic. perhaps thats why i love Charleston so much…

That’s like the state that makes every other state feel like they are the best…
They provide the political humor an half-assness that I need to survive… and they do so on an almost daily basis.

The Patriots
this reminds me, the Little Star, some kid they pick to announce who’s batting for the Padres to open the inning (I wanna say it’s the 2nd inning)… anyway, yesterday’s Little Star was reading the name and said, “Now batting for the San Diego Patriots… Padres…”

Most cities are that way.
How often do we hear on the news that San Diego is the most beautiful city in the country? Has the best weather on the planet…. The best beaches in America… Why would you go on vacation if you live here…
San Diego easily has as much ego as Boston does. It’s just not as much about sports as it is in Boston. Every great city has that kind of ego about itself.
Boston is a great city. You just have to separate “Boston: the city” from “Boston: the douchebag, bandwagon fans.”

Wow, even I feel old.
I definitely rocked out to NKOTB on a daily basis back in the day.
I need new pants.
Well, I was more of a backstreet boys girl when I was younger.
Plus my digging in Wiki seems to tell me they broke up when I was 4 or 5, when I probably wasn’t really listening to anything but classical music (thanks mom).
Question is, should I go and listen to them now? Is the magic still there?
"You're like the nicest internet person I know." - theodore donald kerabatsos
Yes.
The Step by Step album pretty much defined my youth. To this day, my parents still play “Happy Birthday” from Step by Step for my sisters and me on our birthdays every year.
When I was older I was all about *//\//sync (BSB sucks!), but NKOTB was where it all started.

I've watched the replay many times
Everth just looked confused by the whole thing. His leg gets rolled on as he tries to get up. Then Reynolds is hitting him. Everth’s expression of “wtf” is apparent, and you’re not going “wtf” after you intentionally kick someone.
though no punches were thrown

Uncommon Sportsman :: Absurdity in play
I have to same impression.
Maybe it’s because Reynolds was calling Everth the Spanish Armada or something?
Exactly.
I don’t see how it wasn’t obvious to people that the “kick” was unintentional.
He even tried to walk (run) away from the situation when bitchass Reynolds started shoving him. And he’s still the one who gets ejected. Absolutely ridiculous.
I need new pants.
So Mark hates people who speaks Spanish?
No wonder he plays in Arizona.
I want Adrian to wring his neck.

Wonko...you're the prospect guru
What’s the deal with Edinson Rincon? All I know about his is he’s young and playing in Fort Wayne.
Does he have any upside? Any chance to make an impact or make the big league team in a few years?

He has plenty of upside with his bat
He could be an all star with his bat. His defense is embarrassing. And not just in the way that I say Denorfia or Venable can’t play CF. He actively butchers defensive plays on a regular basis.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.

So we should use him as trade bait to the AL
and market him as a DH?
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.

Its hard to do that with a Low A
We can do that when he gets to AA maybe.

He's young though (can't buy alcohol until August 11, 2011)
So he’s got time.

I don't think speed is one of his skills
Maybe he could play OF. Maybe.

speed is meh to mah
"Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"
He isn't fast.
Take adrian’s speed, multiply by two and you get Jedd Gyorko.
Take Gyorko’s speed and add 7, you get Rincon.

I'm pretty sure in the ECab pic
He’s about to do a crane kick. In fact, I think I remember that he did one. That’s why he got ejected, right? ;)

Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
I thought he got ejected
because he spat in Mark Reynolds’ face, flipped off everyone in the Dbacks’ dugout, and then taunted the third base ump saying “Whatcha gonna do about it, joto?” while doing the flamenco down the third base line.
I need new pants.
Well there seems to be photographic evidence of the Crane Kick
So that needs to be in the story somewhere.
