Padres beat the Diamondbacks like a billion to 3
The Diamondbacks actually only scored 1, but I'm sure they'll take solace in the little things, like not actually losing by a billion, which count for something.
In other news, it was a beating that the Padres laid down on the Diamondbacks to put us up by 3 full games in the West and be like, "I think we want to hang onto first for a while." So good.
As a note, Ernesto Frieri finished the 9th and threw some really ridiculous stuff. I love that the Padres are like, "we'll put some dudes on the DL and, oh dear, who can pitch for us?" And then the guy that pitches for them is sending 95 mph cut fastballs and ridiculous looking slurves to finish the game Like A Boss.
Good job fulfilling my prediction, Padres. Let's sweep this series.

Another deadly reliever for the Padres

Frieri worried me a bit
He’s going to need more than a fastball to survive in this league and he kept shaking off Hundley with his secondary stuff. He’ll be fine for now with velocity, movement and deception, but I’m not sure he’ll be all that good if we keep him up for a long period of time. We’ll see, maybe his secondary stuff just wasn’t on tonight.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
Meh
Not a lot of need for secondary pitches when you’ve got a 11 point lead in the ninth. He just wanted to come in, throw a few fastballs and get out.
I really like his confidence and mound presence. He clearly has no fear of throwing the fastball. Better than his movement was his command. Great location on his pitches. He only threw a couple of curves and hung one of them though. We’ll see how he fares in closer games when he needs a swinging strikeout but he’s on the right track. Trust your stuff, throw good strikes and it’ll set up the breaking stuff later.

this is what I was saying
the game was clearly over and all that was remaining was to run out the last few outs and they couldn’t even do that. it was embarrassing to watch. gotta love what our pitchers can do.
I actually like Kirk Gibson
I hope he gets the DBs on track

I don’t often get to watch the Pads on TV. It was nice to actually get to see them lay down a beating like that!
Wow, Frieri
Looks like he has closer stuff for sure

Mariano Rivera only had one really good pitch
and that worked fine for him. Frieri’s fastball is absolutely electric, and the offspeed looks serviceable. Closers don’t need too many pitches.

I understand...
But he isn’t there yet is what I am saying. And Mo’s cutter is otherworldly never compare that to frieri’s fastball or slurve. Solid pitches they are, but neither of them plus pitches.
Mike's going to be on the DL for a while
unfortunately. Obliques take 6+ weeks to heal.
We’ll get to see Frieri a lot – I hope.

Rymer looked good, as usual. I didn’t get any pics of him though since my camera died. Connor Powers has NICE hair, as well as a nice booty. Everyone in the crowd has started calling Stubblefield Stubby, and I think he likes it. Actually I think someone in the family section started it, and then the crowd caught on. Simply amazing game
Chilled up in section 222 (hint never sit anywhere without a good view of the left field corner, its where all the magic happens) but after we blew them up in the 4th inning it was chill, then we just completely dismembered them and it got laughable.
Sorry to spam the post OT here, but what a game, so crazy so fun…ahh hopefully they still have some runs in the tank for tomorrow

I have to get up at 3am and come into work for OT. I don’t get to watch past the 1st inning the night before so as soon as I get here I check out GLB. I get all nervous waiting for it to load and then, BAM. billions of runs to be scored. Well done.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.

but there was one team in Major League Baseball last night that put up double digit runs.

Brett Favre?
This is an environment of welcoming, and you should just get the hell outta here.
Seriously?
Bengie Molina (painfully) hits for the cycle last night, becoming the 6th Texas Ranger to accomplish the feat. We’ve got to get that done by the end of the season, we keep speculating could be Sneaky Pig, Veneable, or Headley, maybe Yorvit or Hundley will surprise us.
