Padres drop another series, lose to Rockies 4-2
So terrible. That was bad news.
I'm gonna blame this game on bad karma.
Here's my thing. I don't care if anybody has crushes on players or hates players with a passion, but there's no reason to be such bitches about it, especially to each other.
If y'all want to be bitches to each other, do it somewhere else, where me and 99% of the actual people who come to this site don't have to read it. That's right. If I ban bitches then I'm not only doing myself a favor, but I'm helping out the lurkers who come to the open thread, don't comment, and are forced to think, Jeez... GLB be full of bitches tonight.
I hope we get swept tomorrow just so's I can see what happens when the ban hammer has being wielded by my angry hand.

Look on the bright side
If we get our arses kicked it may just inject some more scrap and underdog mentality into the Pads blood stream and push us to kill the 2nd half as much as we did the 1st
That didn't really happen with the all star snub
So ima just pull for a win : )

But if you look back to the beginning of the season,
We lost quite a bit those first few series, if I remember correctly. Then look what happened!

You're quite right.
Losing periods happen in the course of 162 games. These guys have been good at preventing the skids from being prolonged, which is to their credit.
It’s just that this one has been particularly ill-timed.

I concur with such thoughts.
let us remember that the Padres team that we have been watching throughout the season have yet to lose more than THREE games in a ROW, which upon my last count is pretty damn awesome. Let us not think that this division would be a breeze, for I feel that all that we have attained to this point has given us such a firm grasp of. Now is the time when the tension reaches its peak, and those players whom we once known to be scrappy must come up big. The test of our Padres is now upon us, let us hope that they have what i takes. I believe; that I do.

Richard gave up 5 runs Tuesday.
Garland gave up 5 runs Wednesday. Correia gave up 5 runs yesterday. LeBlanc gave up 4 today.

Ok, the bullpen gave up 5 yesterday too.
But other than that they were pretty good in the other losses.

That's true.
But with better starting pitching it doesn’t get to that point, even allowing for the runs they surrendered. My point is that the relievers are probably just going through a rough patch which gets magnified because the sample size is so small. The starters (like Correia and to a lesser extent Garland) have been consistently not good. They’re in more need of a tweak than the pen.

They've been threading the needle so long.
I’ll take a few tough breaks here and there. Baseball will humble you eventually. No one can be perfect forever. They’ll get some rest, rehab and get back at it, I’m sure.

Let's try Cunningham at clean-up.
Scott will swing and miss at three straight sliders every time. (Much like Khalil). If he’s lucky enough to get a fastball, he pops it up unless its right down the middle. Scott needs to be dropped way down the lineup.

You could put Chase there.
Though Scott has been a slightly better hitter than Headley, it probably makes more sense to put him there because he has a higher OBP, while Hairston has more power and is probably better in the 6th spot.

Either
Denorfia or Cunningham has got to be moving up to the 2 spot tomorrow. I can’t imagine Headley batting second vs. a lefty. Hairston will probably remain cleanup. Maybe Hundley 5th and Savior 6th?

allow me to say that I presided it, as did so many pitches that Wade Leblanc threw to CarGo before he hit that “lazy fly ball” off him.

Bleh. We definitely had a few chances to win this game, that was a little disappointing. Lets go out and rock Francis like last time and avoid the sweep.

Completely agree — and every time he hasn’t been in the line-up, I’ve thought, “uh-oh.”
You wouldn’t think a scrappy guy like Eckstein could mean that much, but he does….
Not the only problem this week, of course (we all know), but no matter what happens Sunday (and we’d better salvage the win), maybe when Eckstein returns to the line-up, that will put us back on the right track — for a winning streak of our own … (to match this latest surge by the Rockies…)….

They're going through their first real "slump"
and this will prove one of two things;
a) the padres played out of their minds the first three months which was the only way they could be so good
or
b) they will regroup and show they have the talent to fight on.
Either way, they better figure out Colorado and quickly. Otherwise it doesn’t matter whether its A or B, they won’t make it very far.
Still the Padres are showing they also need more pitching and hitting stat.
