Padres game is rained out, doubleheader tomorrow
Yeah so apparently it's raining in New York so there will be no game tonight. There will be a double header tomorrow with the first game starting at 10:10am PST with Mat Latos pitching in his regular spot.
Jon Garland will start the second game at 4:10pm PST. Channel 4 will televise both games the afternoon game. XX Sports Radio will broadcast both games.
I was telling Steve Quis during a rain out that the Padres should make their own brand of rain gear. They should use the Friar rain delay logo, the one where the Friar is swinging an umbrella instead of his usual bat. I know it doesn't rain here that often but I'd buy just about anything with that logo on it.

Thw game tomorrow was already going to hurt my work production in the morning.
Now I’m going to have to phone it in the whole day.
I'm kind of sad for thre doubleheader.
I was hoping they’d be able to skip Latos and extend his season.

That doesn't really have to do with the doubleheader
That has to do with him pitching on Friday. If he hadn’t pitched on Friday, they could have pushed his start back to Tuesday without anyone pitching on short rest. Skipping him today would have meant than everyone would have pitched on short rest.
Unless you are saying that there was some possibility that a rainout wouldn’t have resulted in a doubleheader tomorrow? That makes no sense.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.

How does it make no sense?
Plenty of times they reschedule a rained out game for later in the season.

It's common sense
Why would they make the Padres fly back to New York for a game when they are still in town for one more day already?
Now, if it were a divisional game, that might be a different story since they could make more money if they avoided a doubleheader.

Please no extra inning games tomorrow.
It’ll be interesting to see the line up for the night game.

The only guy on the team
That I could see them wanting to avoid back-to-back games is Eckstein. Both pitchers are left handed, so I wonder if Buddy will even consider starting Venable in either one. I’d put a hefty wager on Stairs not starting either.

Wait, both games will be televised?
I thought they were just airing the 4:10 game.

from what I understand
SD4 not usually airing weekday afternoon games is in part due to them getting the equipment and crew packed up and ready for the next city. Maybe since they are staying for the 4pm game they might as well broadcast the 10am game too?
Well Cavnar said they were airing the 4:10 game.
She didn’t say anything about the 10:10 game.
I need new pants.
people actually use twitter?
I thought twitter was just some big conspiracy by the media companies. Anyways, yeah, I don’t know if its broadcast or not. I’m just saying that broadcasting it wouldn’t be far fetched.
I started to really like twitter during Chargers season
Kevin Acee, Jenny Cavnar and Marty Caswell basically act like sideline reporters that don’t have to wait until the producer puts them on. Also, any Padres or Chargers related news gets broken on twitter first. Whether its the lineup for the game, someone going on the DL, a trade or anything else twitter knows it first as long as you follow the right people.

But I could still see Ch4 not televising it. It wouldn’t be the first time they showed half of a doubleheader.

Great
A rain soaked double header with multiple delays. Hopefully they don’t wind up playing until sun up and burning up the pitching staff.
As a ticketholder to tonights (would be game):
I can safely say that the night game tomorrow is going to get rained out as well.

Gonna be a long day for the Padres. Two games and then fly coast to coast for a game tomorrow night. Lousy.
