Mujica gives up 3 run homer, Padres lose

It wasn't such a bad game last night until Edward Mujica came in.  I know that Mujica has had his moments but I swear I can only remember the bad times.  After giving up the three run homer I just kept mumbling "It was all a mirage... it was all a mirage... the Padres aren't real."  Then I took a few more sips of my Ruby's strawberry shake and I recovered.  I don't like feeling like that, I'm not sure how Foulweathers live like that every day.

Jon and I bought some tickets at the beach in centerfield, but we never made it to our seats.  I need a back rest and those benches don't do my posture any favors.  We ended up just sitting in right field near the foul pole.

I've been enjoying going to Tuesday games because we usually have the park all to ourselves but last night was kicking.  21K were in attendance and it was actually difficult to find parking.  Everybody scoot towards the middle of the bandwagon.

Some how we found ourselves in a nest of fans affiliated with teams that were not playing in Petco Park.  There were Red Sox fans, Tigers fans, Cardinal fans and who knows what else.

At one point a Padre fan nearby shouted an insult at our group.  The Tiger fan stood up, swaying back in forth in his drunken state, opened his flannel shirt to reveal the Tiger logo and yelled "NINETEEN EIGHTY FOUR!'

After using that rallying cry so many times myself to fend off Cubs fans, I realized it was the first time I had heard it used as a weapon against Padres fans.  That sh*t cut deep.

Anyway, last night's game sucked.  The Padres offense showed off their comeback skills but fell short.  I wish that Colorado didn't own us and that we could have put them 9 games out of first in this series.  Now we need to defend against the sweep this afternoon.

As I was sitting in line for... something... last night,

I was following the game via the MLB app on my phone, Twitter, and texts from various people. It started getting really frustrating in the top of the 7th, and frustration is not good for someone who had been sitting on cold concrete for hours. I expressed that frustration accordingly, and may have scared a few people with my outbursts and offended some parents also waiting in line with their young children.

Then, we started a comeback and I got really excited, which may have incited some people, thinking I was excited about something related to what we were in line for. When they asked what was going on and I replied with “A home run and back-to-back singles! This team doesn’t give up!” I only received blank stares.

Then, when two more runs were given up in the 9th, I let out a stream of expletives and got some condemning looks again from parents. I was then forced to turn my phone off, being low on battery, and had to ask my friend to text Google for scores every ten seconds. Luckily, she loves me and happily obliged. Unluckily, we couldn’t come back from a three-run deficit in the ninth.

So what’s the point of this story? I have no idea. But it doesn’t matter, you didn’t read it anyway. =D

I've said it before and I'll say it again

Every time Mujica is put into a game, I turn the tv off knowing that he will give up a homerun and blow the game.
