The Yankees and Doyers play on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.
The Red Sucks are facing Tim Licksumcum and are winning 1-0 Bottom 1
The Angels are down 1-0 to the Rockies in the 3rd.
I believe that 3.5 games matches the biggest NL West lead of the season for the Padres, so if the Giants lose we will be 4 games ahead of the Dodgers (if they win) and 4.5 games ahead of the Giants if the Dodgers lose. This will be our biggest lead of the season.
GO YANKEES, RED SUCKS, AND ANGELS!!
Also, my birthday is tomorrow and I'm flying to SD.

They'd probably want Cumberland or Castro.
And those guys are off the table. I think they’d be dumb to turn down Sean Gallagher or Stauffer for Kearns, though. He’s a journeyman at this point and they need to rebuild the pitching staff.
Crazy thought, I know Grady Sizemore is injured, but wouldn’t he be a good buy low candidate for next years outfield? I’m hoping it was the knee causing his declining production. If he’s healthy he might surprise a few people next season.

One brought up a point that you have in the past.
That because of our sucky offense we play every team close, good and bad. So they think eventually that will catch up to us and we’ll start to drop games to bad teams.

is that I believe that the Chargers are tied with the Raiders for most AFC West titles, so if anything we have the best argument for that claim, along with Oakland.

Not true at all.
Check out the park factors. Every year for the last ten years it’s been in the top 5 biggest hitters’ parks in baseball. It has often been the best hitter’s park, and only once has been below the top three.

Jimenez has been worth 28.8 runs over average.
Subtract that from their total starting pitching, and they’ve still gotten 55.6 runs over average from the rest of their starters, which alone would put them in the middle. If you replaced Jimenez’s 28.8 runs with an average starter’s, they’d be top ten.

Both of them are good, but
dealing with one good contender in your division is one thing. The Padres are trying to stay on top of three good teams (each with 90-win-plus potential) at once.
I agree with ours being more impressive.
I’m just saying the Angels and Rangers aren’t chumps.

As we all know, we were picked by everyone to finish dead last in the West, and that Boston would be counting the days until we Traded away Adrian Gonzalez. As of June 27, we have:
- 45-30 – best record in the N.L., 3rd best in the Majors behind Texas and the Yankees
- A road record of 22-14 – best in the N.L. (mind you, the only two teams in the N.L. who have winning records on the road who are making a playoff run are the Philies; 20-18 and Reds; 17-16), 2nd best in the Majors, behind Tampa Bay (24-12)
- An ERA of 2.99 – the best in the Majors
- The best, and most frightening, bullpen in baseball
- The starting rotation, minus CY, is one of the best in the N.L.
- Adrian Gonzalez….nuff said
- A fielding percentage of .989 – 2nd best in the N.L., 4th best in the Majors
- The Padres will have maintained control of 1st place in the West for 3 straight months

on my Tivo in the 9th inning when Broxton came in. Figured that was that. After Andy Rooney (still don’t know why I still sit through that segment) I flipped back to ESPN to see the scores. . .and whaddayaknow the game is TIED and still going on!!
Loved seeing that comeback by the Yankees, and especially love seeing the Dodgers so frustrated and angry. That, coupled with our sweep of the Marlins, put a big smile on my face at the close of this weekend.
I guess that's what happens
When you use your best reliever to get 4 outs when you’re already up 5 runs, and then ask him to do it again the next day against the best lineup in baseball.

Ethier broke his bat on the ground in front of the ump
then went back to the dugout and knocked around some coolers.
He grabbed a bat and it looked like he was going to swing at a wall or something
and the camera cut away. Torre was in the umps face for a long time – not screaming – but enough to get thrown out any other night. When they went back to the pitch track – the calls were correct.
