I love the Ecker

Everyone who loves baseball, loves the Ecker. Only opposing fans who have just lost a game due to being outscrapped by the scrapmaster himself, don’t love the Ecker. And even then they can only be angry with the Ecker for a couple days.

I've always been a fan of Eckstein

Even when he was with the Cardinals, I always found it difficult to hate him. I was glad when the Padres picked him up, but was a bit disappointed when he sucked last year. This year though, I’m a fan again.

Maybe I'm just a jerk...

But I hated Eckstein until he became a Padre. He’s got that annoying “Rudy” quality to him that you just hate when you’re facing him.

Of course, now I absolutely love the guy.

Oh I definitely can see that

And I can definitely see why so many teams despise him now, which only makes me happier that we have him.

Haters gonna hate

But for me, Eck is like a character in a Disney movie. No matter how much you want to hate him, he is still just a cartoon.

by The Kipper on Jun 3, 2010 9:38 AM PDT up reply actions

i also hated him

i disliked the fact that he needed momentum from his entire body to throw the ball from second to first. i found him pansy-like. now i find him badger-like.

I hate him when he's bad.

And love him when he’s good.

I hate eck before he was on our team.

Not really for what he did, just was annoyed by his angry fidgety batting stance.

Now that there is some context to his personality, I like him.

Dear girls of GLB,

Watch Ecks video. You can thank me later ;)
Love, Jordan
P.S. What did he say?

Thanks for the heads up

My ticket is stamped to the Gun Show.

The only thing I remember Eck saying is this is the bestest bullpen evar.

The rest is blah blah blah, Oh HELLO, blah blah blah, How you doin?,blah blah blah.

Gotta go watch it again, just to make sure I didnt leave out any blah blahs.

Yeat, that's pretty much what I got too.

I was too busy trying to figure out the first one to come out and if any towels were going to fall off, hahaha

You going to Portland?

I’m jealous. If only I didn’t have a test tomorrow…

by Jordan_Ming on Jun 3, 2010 11:40 AM PDT up reply actions

I'm in Portland

24 hrs a day. 7 days a week. Unless I’m on vacation.

Psh, I knew that

What was I thinking?
Anyway, have fun! Isn’t tonight a double header?

I still miss Josh Geer.

Solely because of how good he always looked on the mound in his tight pants and high socks.

I need new pants.

there is a tragic lack of this style in the majors these days

can’t stand the guys with the pant legs hanging all the way down to the cleats. it’s a uniform, not a pair of jeans you slobs!

RIGHT?

Josh Geer gave up like a billion home runs. But he looked damn good doing it.

I’m not saying that I’d take fashion over talent, but come onnnn, boys. Can’t you have both?

I need new pants.

Eck's a mercenary

Trust him as far as you can throw him, which in his case is pretty far.

Eck is the man

I’ve always like him. There is something about baseball that rewards scrap… and I don’t think its statistically quantifiable.

Opposing pitchers hate Eck

that is why he gets hit so much

And unlike other prissy players

He actually takes one for the team, not jumping out of the way, not suited up in body armor. That alone is worth like +6 scrap points

by creanium on Jun 3, 2010 12:09 PM PDT up reply actions

Whats amazing is that we have won some games on scrap alone.

And lost a couple games just because we were lacking just a little. Some teams have zero scrap points and they lose a ton of games. Like the Giants may have negative scrap points.

The DCracks have negative scrap points

in double digits as well.
