Same problem.
They don’t pay me my huge salary to waste my time filling out surveys that don’t go anywhere. Of course they don’t pay me to fill out surveys at all.

I changed my rankings slightly.
Originally had Giants hated more than the Rockies, but I flipped that. Rockies deserve more disdain, since they always seem to be a thorn in our side, and that whole Matt Holliday thing. At least the Giants have a common Enemy #1 (Dodgers) that can bring us together. In fact, I was at Oakland Airport last weekend wearing a Padres throwback T-shirt (Gwynn), and some waiter serving me at the Pyramid Brewery where I was trying to enjoy a nice IPA said “I’m not a big fan of your shirt. . .but at least you aren’t a Dodger fan. I’d rather play you for the top spot than let the Dodgers anywhere near it.” It was a sweet, touching moment of solidarity between rivals.
Then again, if he wasn’t on the clock, he might have beat the crap out of me.
I'm confabulating them

let me retype that with how I was feeling at the time
hmmm…………………….
I do not see the results of the survey that I just participated in…… hmmmmmmmmmmmmm…….
I will wait a bit, perhaps I misclicked something………………… hmmmmm….. nope, I believe tha tI have properly filled out the form.
….. perhaps I should ask Dex and the rest of the guys. Maybe they will know the answer……
well, let me first meditate on this issue for a few minutes…..
okay, that was enough meditation, I should just post and ask.
“excuse me, but Dex, I was unable to see the results after completing the survey. I was wondering if you might be able to help me find where the results are located. I am sure I have just missed something obvious, but any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated”
Perhaps that response is more representative of what one might expect?

if the Dodgers or the Mariners aren't the most hated team...

Rockies and Dodgers were my only 2 West hated
Rest were Boston, NY, and Philly. Dodgers were number 1. Yankees are slowly moving down the list while Dodgers and Red Sox climbed as I go older. Mostly cause their fans are jerk holes.
This is a terrible thing for the Padres. - Jerry Coleman
Nothing exposes how poor a franchise the Padres have been,
than the Yankees and Red Sox being listed as the most hated teams.
I never understand that!
There are not even in the same league. It’s too bad we haven’t developed any true rivals.
Too often, the hated teams are based on geography rather than a true rivalry.
There's other factors in hating a team...
than “how they perform against your team” or if they are “your teams true rival”. Fans play a big part in things. Honestly why would Padres fans hate the Phillies really? Well there fans are complete a-holes is a good start…but other than that they haven’t stuck a dagger in the Padres hearts in the playoffs or haven’t done anything on the field to necessarily “hate” the team. Right?
I listed the most logical choice for all HUMAN Padres fans (See: Wonk listing the Mariners 1st) and put the Dodgers #1. I did put the Red Sox at #2 just because their fans are such douche bags. I honestly don’t have any issues with the actual Red Sox team but their fans just bring douchiness to a whole new level. I put the Cards on my list for all the times they’ve cleaned our clocks in the playoffs, the Yankees were pretty easy to put on the list & the Rockies are on my list permanently for 1 game that may or may not have happened a few years back….I can’t quite remember.

I don't buy into that.
I think the accusations that one teams fans are virtuous while another team’s are “douche bags” is pure nonsense.
Growing up in San Diego I was taught to believe that also. But getting a little older and travelling and living in other places makes you realize how absurd that belief is.
I’ve spent time in NY, Philadelphia, Boston, LA, SF, Chicago, etc, and have also attended games in those cities. I enjoyed it, and the evilness I was warned about has been nonexistent. Claiming one team or city has fans that are douche bags, while SD doesn’t, is never a very good idea.
Now hold on there Hopalong,
Nobody ever said that San Diego did not have fans that are douchebags.
I do not, however, recall a lot of media coverage of douchey fans in San Diego. There has been a lot of media coverage of douchey fans in other cities, notably Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia. My personal experience at ballparks, limited as it is to San Diego and a couple of Midwest venues, has only exposed me to douchebag Cubs and Reds fans. The latter being very few and far between, not so the former.

Media coverage is a whole other issue
I think it is a silly argument to claim that one team or city has more db fans than others. I was hoping Padre fans would move beyond that kind of nonsense now that we are having a winning season.
Fans of good teams don’t usually get caught up in inferiority complexes. IMO it is complete Bush League
Of course it's a silly argument
Clearly it’s LA.

measure it by the behavior of visiting fans in your home ballpark
not by how other teams fans act in their own environment. Are you a douche bag when you go to a Padres away game? Probably not. So they develop the impression that Padres fans are laid back and not douche bags. However, it’s been my experience and probably others’ that when Dodgers/Giants/Red Sox/Cubs/Phillies, etc. fans come to Petco, lots of them act like douche bags (mostly because they get confident when lots of their friends are around). Thus, the douche bag stereotype is developed, and justly so.
When Cubs, etc. fans are at games in their own ballparks, they are probably not douche bags. But even if they are, it’s their own ballpark, and they’re allowed to be.
by LJbumfool on Jun 18, 2010 3:50 PM PDT up reply actions
It is true
That the douchebags Sawks fans that came to Petco were much different than the fans at Fenway.

Probably because they're not "real" fans,
just a bunch of bandwagon-jumping frontrunners and that sort of mentality goes hand-in-hand with douchery.

That's a really good point
To use a football example, there used to be tons of 49er fans around everywhere in the late 80’s and early ’90’s. Now, (except in NoCal) I can’t remember the last time I met a 49er fan.
Those same people are probably now Steeler fans or Patriot fans. Complete bandwagoners!
Although the douchey White Sox fans you know?
Very typical of the franchise. I should know, a friend of mine has season tickets so I spend more than my fair share of time in “The Cell”

I don't hate them because of how they perform in relationship to the Padres
As a general rule I hate anything that comes out of Boston except for clam chowder. Yankees I just don’t like, but they are probably on a similar footing to the Cubs. It was a toss up between the too. Philly fans I don’t like, Mets fans I don’t like.
How they performed against the Padres outside of Colorado had no bearing on my choices. Interactions with fans and general first feeling made my decisions for me.
I can only judge asshole fans based on personal interactions. Unfortunatly, the few influence my opinion of the many. I have yet to meet a Sox or Dodger fan that was not a total dick face.

Yeah
Most people are fans of a team because of one of two reasons.
Who their Dad was a fan of.
Where they lived when they first started following the game.
IMO, the idea that it is tied to a persons character (or character flaw), is completely idiotic.
My mom's side of the family is made up of lots of Dodgers fans
They couldn’t be nicer people. I could never imagine them doing any of things the Dodger fans I hate do. Of course, from listening to many of the most annoying Dodger fans’ drunken ramblings, the ones that are the biggest idiots are also the least involvement in their team. They are more interested in yelling at the opposition than they are interested in who the 7th inning guy should be for LA.

i’m an o’s fan here b/c i followed the link on tonight’s game page, but here’s mine, for an east coast perspective:
most hated
yankees — stupid yankees buying up everything and always winning and that annoying jeter and bandwagon fans. yankees and duke blue devils are from hell, i’m pretty sure.
red sox — stupid red sox winning whenever the yankees dont, and annoying fans and how dumb is that team name?
mets — stupid mets beat one of the best o’s teams ever in the ws. you don’t forget these things (even tho i wasn’t born yet).
indians — stupid 86 win AL-Central winning Indians beat the last good 98 win O’s team in the 97 ALCS
I forget who I put here, but Phillies, Cards, A’s, Braves, Dodgers could all fit
Least hated:
Padres — yeah, I’m not just saying that. what’s to hate? San Diego’s beautiful, they’ve never won jack, and they had tony gwynn.
rays — living vicariously through them while the o’s are down. yeah! beat the yanks and red sox! hahaha! make them look dumb!
twins — twinkies were almost contracted a decade ago, climbed out of the gutter, get lambasted in the 1st round every year, and their best player is mauer. nothing to hate.
i think i picked the d-backs and rockies cause they always seem like the little brother that nobody cares about but are likable. that’s me talking from afar.
Welcome, Luke.

That makes a lot of sense to me
You hate the teams that have dominated your division, and teams that beat you in the postseason.
Just curious, since 1969 bothers you;
does the 1971 and ’79 losses to the Pirates rank up there?
yeah, i considered the pirates
but 18 years of losing alongside our 13 years makes them closer to kindred spirits. except that they have the steelers, who are also the devil.
the mets were a major underdog, too, plus they’re in NY and it was the same year that the Jets beat the Colts in the Super Bowl and the Knicks beat the Baltimore Bullets in the playoffs. not a good year.
I asked
because I watched some of the WS games on MLB this past year. Orioles were such a good team.
They had an amazing stretch from about 1964 to 1984. Not just the pennant years, but also the number of 90+ win seasons during that span. It is reallyy impressive.
FWIW, Ken Singleton was one of my favorite players from the ’70s. Him and Al Oliver, and later George Brett.
Forgot about that triple whammy with NY/Baltimore in ’69
btw, ken singleton
is now a yankees broadcaster, but he still lives in the baltimore area. I was working at his house and met him, nice guy, much bigger than I remembered on tv.
So for those who hate the Red Sox
“more” than the Dodgers. . .which team would you rather see win this weekend?
