Padres beat the Mariners like a billion to one

Padres retain first place and we hope that the Angel lead (currently 4-0) over the Dodgers holds up so that we can have first place by ourselves and control our fates.

In other news, we've been getting mail bag mail and somebody asked who I thought was going to start on Monday. Something about needing a fantasy team figured out. Keep in mind, I got this email Friday morning. Here was my reply that day:

Hi Bill,

Since Latos and Garland both pitched on Thursday, the weekend is going to go Correia, Clayton, LeBlanc... And unless they give somebody a spot start, my best guess is that it will be Garland and they'll take the opportunity to skip a Latos start.

I'm not positive though so I apologize in advance about your fantasy team.

Dex
Gaslamp Ball

And the Postgame show confirms it! I told you I knew something about baseball! HOORAY ME! GAME BALL ME!!!

GO PADRES!!! GO ANGELS!!!

it is pretty amazing that I guy can have 200 PA’s and hit 1 double and with his speed, only a token triple….I don’t think I have ever seen anything like it.

wOBA is a rate stat, not a counting stat.

A guy with one PA who hits a single can have a huge wOBA.

you rag on me for using OPS and use old junk stat like BA ?

Hairston can at least go deep and the Pads of course have no power …..it seems like he is REALLY out of sync….but he just got of DL……

I hope Gwynn Jr. can stay hot for another month or so – you were right in imploring critics to lay off of Gwynn – w/o other options it would have been really foolish to cast him aside

Who said BA was a junk stat?

OBP is essentially the most important stat, which Hairston blows at.
