That picture has
too much estrogen, not enough testosterone. Tomorrow, can there be a shirtless man with a bouquet of flowers? That balances better! The perfect amount of testosterone to the perfect amount of estrogen. Plus, I think all 5(ish) of us womenfolk would enjoy it! And isn’t that what life is all about? Pleasing the women?
Where are the flowers?

I just want to get paid to draw naked girls, is that so much to ask?
yeah. Chrissy's hot
but this ‘Unicorn being fed a strawberry’ pose is ridiculous…
The rapidly falling OPS of Chase Headley is scary. His slugging pct % is even more cause for concern….he rarely drives the ball even to edge of warning track
I suggest
Not worrying about a junk stat like OPS.

I wanted to ask you
Ray from The Sac Bunt posited on another forum that the explanation for Headley’s lack of power right now is that he’s still really slim from playing the outfield, as opposed to the shape he was in while he was in the minors, and that once he builds his muscle and strength back up the power will come.
Does that make sense to you?

It could
But I don’t believe. I just don’t think he’ll ever have that much power in the majors. Plus, like texpadre said, it’s not like he’s flying out at the warning track or driving balls deep to the gaps. He’s just hitting like a “punch and judy” hitter as Tony Gwynn would say.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
I'd love for him to develop power
but if he can get on base like he has, he should be a fine major leaguer regardless. I’d love him in the 2 or 3 spot, where he can get on base and Adrian can drive him in.

I think he'd be a great 2 hitter.
Unfortunately the rest of lineup is too weak to let him out of the cleanup spot.

3rd in hits and average.
I understand your geek stats will tell you to look deeper but the truth is, right now, he is one of our best hitters.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.
Maybe he’s one of our best "hit"ters, but he hasn’t been one of our most productive offensive players. It’s not a matter of “stats” its a matter of doing what it takes to win games and Eckstein isn’t pulling as much weight in that regard as other players, even with those hits and batting average.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
dude...
intangibles. That’s all you need to know.
K, serious response. It is in reply to Richard Wade’s comment that you put your worst hitter #2 in the lineup.
Eck for all of his shortcomings (pun intended) is the best player we have right now for the 2 hole. The 2 hole needs to be able to move a guy into scoring position for your 3 and 4 hitters…your RBI guys. He can bunt, push the ball, take a pitch off the chest, whatever you need. Just because our lead off guys can’t get on, or can’t stay on isn’t entirely Eck’s fault.
Would Headley be better suited in the 2 hole? I think an argument could be made for that. But until Blanks and Venable can prove that they’re consistent major league hitters, Headley has to bat 3,4, or 5.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.
You are talking about a traditional 2 hole hitter
For lineup optimization your best overall hitter should be in the 2 hole. Having a guy that gets out in order to help move runners ahead is a poor use of the batter that will get up the 2nd most times of any other.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
I didn't say the 2 hole needs to sacrifice
runners over. Just that they need to move the runner over. That can mean walk, hit, anything. I agree with what you’re saying, so it’s kind of a moot point. I’m just saying i think Eckstein is our best available player in the 2 hole without screwing up the rest of the lineup.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.
I could probably make a case for Hundley/Torrealba using your parameters since they can walk and hit better than Eckstein.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
OPS - junk
simply an OBP+SLG% combo….I could care less about Luis Durango’s OPS but Headley’s ? As a third bagger, yes. Ok. No gusta OPS. Try this junk stat : In Headley’s last 65 PA’s, he has had 2 xtra base hits.
Thats even more of a junk stat
California, what have you done to me?
