Padres win in 11 innings. Hundley the hero.
The Padres are so good. This is a team that never gives up. It's crazy now but when we get into extra innings I just expect them to win. Maybe that's why we left in the 10th. It was that or that we all had sunstroke from playing and running around the park at the park. Either way, you knew that the Padres would find a way, because that's what they do. That's who they are!
Earlier in the week everybody seemed to be thinking that Yorvit Torrealba was our best catcher and here comes Hundley killin' it the last two days. A different day a different Padre coming through with the win.
Bring on the Mets! Go Padres!

Ah.
I hope everything is OK. Here’s to Hundley making good use of the extra playing time.

I was hoping we’d win one of them 1-0.

The Padres have been very good against the Mets the last few years.
Hopefully that continues.

That was pretty cool.
And Jody homered in the first even at bat.

It'd be very nice
to go all the way. But I’m happy to take it a base at a time.

That's why Ws as a pitching stat- and the American League- are BS.

Cought the end of the game and it was another great one
The thing I love about this team is that it is a different Padre stepping up every night. They may all be hitting sub .300 but they aren’t afraid to come through with a big hit. It seems like everyone except Adrian has a walkoff (I know that isn’t the truth but it seems like it).
Bring on the Mets. We gotta keep winning the series.

correction
through December…we win our last game in November.
"Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"
Tom Krasovic has us going 49-63 the rest of the season
Finishing w/ 79 wins. Also sees them falling to third place by summer.
Krasovic
also said in July of last year that the Padres were 5-10 years away from being competitive again. Certainly, I wouldn’t be shocked if this time he was dead on. Obviously, the Padres have virtually nothing offensively and the pitching can’t keep this up. In March, I had them going 84-78 this season. I stand by that.
Padres 2010 Ole'
The Pads will have a big decision coming up at the Break
If we’re still in the hunt for a playoff spot, and Beantown wants to deal for Adrian, what does Jed Hoyer do? We’re in need of offense and an ace-like pitcher, and if Beantown is willing to part with some bats to get Gonzo, do we make a trade?
by Jonathan Holmes on May 30, 2010 7:09 PM PDT up reply actions
to be fair
Krasovic, who is a great baseball writer, made the July 2009 assessment as KT was stockpiling a bunch of young arms, which made the Pads competitive again. He admitted as much later in the season. Point is- who the heck knows if the Pads will make the moves necessary to make them better down the stretch.
Padres 2010 Ole'
That was another excruciatingly boring baseball game.

You want excitement
look at the standings. We’ve got the same record as the CHUCKLEF_CKING YANKEES. This is the team that spends FIVE TIMES OUR PAYROLL. You don’t get a little bit jazzed off that?
The Padres are good, but make no mistake: we've gotta beef up the linwup.

Going back to Peavy for a minute
Even if we wanted Jake back, the same problem would eventually rear its ugly head: salary.
He’s going to want a long-term deal with a team worth much more than what we paid him in the past. One thing is clear, though: The Padres need an ace pitcher. Garland was a great pickup, but his ERA isn’t going to hover around 2.00’s all year. Correia can’t get through 6 innings without being yanked, and LeBlanc has struggled ever since he was knocked around in Seattle, and I highly doubt CY returns to the lineup (again) this year.

if they are going to make a run it
management is going to need to add an arm
and an outfield bat.
They can pick someone off waivers by Aug 31 if we are still in the hunt or buck up and make a move before July 31 – if they are really confident in the team. Either way, 2 or 3 months is a long way out.
"I post like canned meat."
management is going to need to add an arm
Really now? They have the best team ERA (aided by PetCo, sure) and you think they need to add an arm?

I'm not so worried about adding a bat as letting the outfield bats wake up
Venable stirred recently, but then rolled over and went back to sleep. Ogre has to come around sooner or later. TG2 is no power hitter, but I expect he’ll be a little more consistent. If anything, we ought to add a fourth outfielder— I’m not a big fan of Salazar.
And if we’re going to add an arm— who? Rent Cliff Lee or Roy Oswalt far above equitable cost for a few months? Scour the waiver wire or the back of other teams’ rotations hoping for a diamond in the rough? Rush a guy to the majors? I’d be fine with picking up an innings-eater to go in the middle of the rotation, just to spell guys like Latos. (How about Chris Capuano, Luke Hochevar, Josh Towers, Adam Eaton, Noah Lowry, Mitch Talbot, hulking SDSU alum Aaron Harang, or— if you like that special flavor of “when hell freezes over”— Brian Matusz?)

There is one wandering in wilderness,
who will soon find his way to land of the misfit pitchers. He goes by the name of Dontrelle.
Anyone else going to the game?
I am all esscited.
I will bring back a win.
Going tomorrow as well.
We’re gonna see some fireworks.
God Bless Texas.
